Two thirds of farms on the EU are 5 hectares or less in size. So this machine would not be any use for them as is far too big both cap ex and size. Imagine attempting to turn it at the bottom of paddock!!

Seems strange they have spent some much research and development on this when is too big for the local users. Eye on the export market? Perhaps they will make a smaller version for use in the EU ?

Absolutely aimed at the global market - there’s more than this in development by the big OEM’s as well. Not sure what the market acceptance will be like though, could be a while before anything like this takes off.

I suppose the next model will be autonomous

That’s also being worked on - there’s more than one prototype sprayer that is autonomous. Given the operator does basically nothing when in a paddock anyway apart from monitor stuff and in some cases make the turn at each end, it is actually an ideal situation for autonomy as the GPS maps of the paddocks are accurate to mm’s and there’s nothing but the odd tree or power pole to crash into and even now you can program your map to avoid those.

Seems likely to be heading to multiple machines with 1 operator in an area depending on what they are doing. Again, not sure on timeline for all of this.

Sounds like soon the operator will be able to sit in a Deckchair in the shade of a Coolibah Tree with big Binnies not even pressing buttons but will just need to think about what his boss needs him/her to do.

Until he/she dozes off & the machine goes rogue.

All done with thought waves. Yeah roight.

It’s already happening (we’ll not the thought waves quite yet). This is a commercially available unit at the small end of the spectrum. Bigger units are on their way. Send it out and let it go.

    Hi,
So how long until something like this trundles along the suburban bus route, plucks commuters waiting at the bus stop, quick squirt of coffee, bundled into magazine, racked in order of alighting, loaded into ejector at destination, quick spray of deodorant and stood upright on pavement with a swift kick in the pants to orient to the office door.
    Cheers

Go onto the NEXAT website - there's an English version. YES, it's apparantly in parallel development. Already, these are being used on pre-plotted 'roads' in the paddock. - On youtube as well, where they're shown in various versions in Ukraine. and yes, fully steerable, tracks or wheels, - at both ends. In paddocks they format is up and down by longest length, U turn at each end, and turning wide onto alternate 'roads'. - check out the youtube vids.
