A good money spinner then. I bet with Tombie's aid & expertise we could build one between Adelaide & Melbourne for a start then other cities if this one proved successful. Tasmania may or may not be a problem need to see about that aspect.

Why not, nothing ventured nothing gained.? Initial donations of 4 million quid would be most acceptable, Tombie says.


As a matter of historic trivia for those that are familiar with Adelaide to Port Adelaide via The Port Road, the centre plantation that is there & consists of Basket Ball Courts, Palm Trees, Cycle Tracks & other impediments over the years is on the site of what was to be a Canal from near the overhead Railway Bridge to North Tce in the city I believe the Port end was to be cut in where for many years Ketches used in the in the Coastal Trade moored. I think it was called Port Dock/Port Canal then. . It seemed to be the main destination for Overseas supplied Timber. Most Timber Merchants are still down that way.
It was, as I understand it, was to use Barges as per the Barges used on British Canals. Different times alright.


Horses supplied the power then. Then Trucks & Rail, (especially Rail) took over the freight & the road was built so it never got off the ground. (See what I did there? )Today the City end is a plantation for Adelaide's Tram system & the New Royal Adelaide Hospital through to the Hindmarsh Entertainment Centre etc & the rest is as above with Gardens etc.

One could quite often see teams of Horse drawn Wagons delivering stuff that had been brought up the Port Road then return to the Port at night as most Carriers had huge Stables there. ie. Cockings, Gamblings & a few others whose names elude me for the mo.

Thanks CA, I hadn't got that far yet to look for Vids. Not a lot to document about a bloody rock in the sea but was interesting enough.

I saw that vid a year or more ago so was unsure if that was the same rock in the middle of nowhere until I looked it up again! It has an unusual history though.

Some other strange little territories, not as small as Rockall, but these are landlocked by Canada and can only be reached by plane or boat, if you don't want to go through Canadian territory.

The mind boggles over the damages caused in trade, read, no goods, or long delays in goods not arriving



Refrigerated cargo should be ok if they had self-contained attached units but there would probably still be some spoilage for some things.


Then there are the costs of other vessels in freeing that monster. Plus, plus ,Plus, Plus ad infinitum.


Then the premiums will possibly rise. etc etc

I'm glad I ain't an Insurer.

Certainly a good name for the ship's locations alright. "Bitter Lake". You couldn't make it up.
