Why do people go to a caravan park, pull up, jump straight in their caravan or motor home, up goes the TV aerial and they don't appear again until next morning, when they drive away? They might as well stay at home.
We were in the camp kitchen with a friendly group of Chilean backpackers cooking dinner and laughing at them.

Maybe they have a good reason
It could be more fun in the van than at home

We generally stay well away from van parks, use remote campsites, national parks, private camping properties, etc, exclusively, but thats just us.
Not saying there is anything wrong with van parks, sure they suit many.
    Each to their own.

we lived in van parks while working in wa forr about 5 years. The amount of people that come in groups of van that
    all wanted to park together
all washed the vehicles on day 1
all washed the van on day 2
all packed up on day 3
each night they all cluster to one of the vans and annoyed everyone else
with their extra load voices and lack of respect for others
    and
I am sure the only thing they seen on the big lap was between parks,
    experts on every thing
    cheers

A different view out of the window when they deign to lift the blind perhaps?

You know, "a change is as good as a holiday."

Oh yeah, one assumes they pull the TV Antenna down.

Van parks are just somewhere with facilities to sleep the night.

If I’m in a van park it’s for the facilities between other parts of the journey. I have no intention of making friends with anyone in a van park. Not what I’m travelling for.

Because they can...it’s what they choose and if they are on their road full time than it just like being at home.

We’re much the same, although do use camp kitchens....generally don’t engage in too much conversation especially with the know it all gray nomads.

Maybe they value their own independence and have No need for contact with all the other travellers on the road, Have you considered that possibility?

    Yep.
If they are introverts they'd rather have their teeth pulled than socialise with total strangers. Grumpy old buggers thread

I need my alone time, and pulling the shutters down and shutting the world out is how I recharge.

Extroverts need people, and recharge with social interaction.
