Also when the Northern beaches outbreak occurred, stay at home breaches were mainly from residents going to beaches, parties , parks etc, while the Fairfield breaches have mostly been low income workers going to work, in businesses that should have been shut. To me lessons learned so better tactics can be used is the way to go. To insist that you've done all the right things when blind freddy could see they haven't, is playing politics with peoples lives.

And that little thing called the Delta variant...... 8 new cases in Victoria today.

My gut feeling is that is the crux of it. Prior to that, NSW managed effectively using contact tracing and localised measures. My gut says they under-estimated the ability of this variant to out-run them by an order of magnitude and that's all she wrote.

I see this as more informative for everyone in looking at what and how it gets around so we can all learn lessons from it. I'm hoping that this doesn't wind up spreading much further.

It doesn't help when people don't take the rules seriously, but they are everywhere.

When Mr Hazzard is asked to define an essential worker, he says that's impossible . He says employers and employees ' just know ' who is essential, in essence it means the public should know the answer to the problem the government says is too hard to answer. There is no public health order preventing any type of business in Sydney opening its doors. The government doesn't want to stop shops trading, they just shouldn't have any customers. This is from an article from a lawyer, writing for CRIKEY.;

Easy for me to sit here in a State that has got off lightly, by I suspect a lot of luck as much as "good management" and with a Premier who is happy to chuck spears at the governments in other States and tell them how to run their game. I also went through it in Vic last year, and whilst at the time it looked like a cluster****, with a bit of hindsight and a whole lot more experience I suspect they did the best they could at the time and eventually prevailed. I suspect NSW right now is doing the best it can, but because there are many stakeholders arguing the colour of the bikeshed there is some confusion as to the right measures to implement and how to go about it. Politics probably features in there somewhere, but they have the information and I don't, so I can't judge their decisions.

There will be a load of lessons learned through this and there will be a heap of people who will refuse to learn from it. Doesn't really matter in the end because this thing is a moving feast.

Right now, I have a heap of friends in Vic who have to cancel flights *again* because they can no longer get to WA for my sons (already postponed once) memorial next week, and we are waiting with bated breath to see if it progresses in SA and hoping to hell it doesn't make it over here in the next fortnight. The family in NSW are a lost cause, but we knew that anyway. COVID can take a flying leap!

A nice medical expert I chatted with said its all irrelevant in some ways. It will get in and about no matter how hard people think they can avoid it. We are just cranking up 60 pfizer shots per week. So many other medical centres around are not as they are fed up and tired. "NSW's two-week extension 'optimistic' " headline is possibly an understatement. Some of my Sydney mates and partners are out and about as if nothing is going on there.

Suspect they are fully vaccinated. The lock down in Sydney looks nothing like it did here to this black duck.

If the hermit king my deer leader cannot keep it locked out no a chance anywhere. Vaccination hesitation is now shifting to the third option that may come here later this year. Agree it is peoples choice. I also think too many have made a very poor choice to avoid a new wave occurring again and again myself.

Novavax COVID-19 vaccine is the 3rd one coming- its a bit more old school and not against it or any of the others!

Honesty had a elderly and quiet ill person suggesting they are more than healthy enough to avoid Covid today. They cannot be a Darwin award candidate as they have kids and grand kids.

So sorry to hear of your situation. COVID can take a flying leap. It has opened the cracks in our comfortable lives, and I doubt if things will be the same .

This is one of my big concerns. I know a couple of people who can't (for reasons of various auto-immune disorders) be vaccinated. Vaccinated people are quite capable of contracting it and passing it on, so do we say "tough **** bloke, you are the weakest link. Goodbye" ? For pretty much everything else herd immunity counts, but this is looking "a bit different".

I've spoken to a number of vaccinated people who are keen to "just get on with it, and if you're not vaccinated it's your own fault if you get it and die". I'm not quite sure how it's going to work out, but the attitude concerns me.

I'm a bit concerned by what I'm seeing out of NSW, but I I saw the "media vs reality" in Vic last year so I'm inclined to watch it with a bag of salt. I'm sure people will get it together eventually.

I finally have an appointment, so I'm looking forwards to the extra 5G interactive supplementation I'll get from the "Gates foundation" implant I'll apparently be getting.
