I'm not aware of the range of "killing" Temperatures for C-19 but no doubt someone will know.

    Chinese suspect again eh?

Little story. Before this stuff really really started we were at an ALDI Store in Adelaide rummaging through the Frozen Food cabinets. (as you do) A well dressed & well spoken (in English), Chinese woman came over & also started rummaging, she picked up a few packages & started dropping them back.

She picked up another. "China? Well we are not having that." she said loudly, but also to herself & promptly tossed it back. 'er indoors ( while outdoors) & I looked at each other puzzled like. Then not thinking about it too deeply, realised she couldn't trust the product & so dumped it back.

Made us wonder but not surprised why she did this as our thoughts were the same.

Seemed quite an odd situation to us.

Just looking around some figures.... Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for 'sepsis' seems adequately proven as a (additional / concurrent) treatment for Sepsis, the main means of COVID killing the victim. Pressure required ranges from 1.5 x atmospheric up to 3x. Or 45psi.
The usual method is a decompression (diving) chamber, complex and not cheap.
Suggestion is, re-purpose some obsolete airliners (fuselage) of suitable size, like the grounded Boeing 737 MAXs... With around 80+ useable square metres of floor space several patients could be comfortably treated at the same time.
From memory, PAX aircraft are pressurised to equivalent of 8,000 feet, or c. 12 PSI INside pressure. Their max altitude is 40K feet, or 3 PSI on the outside giving a 4:1 differential. All do-able from an Engineering angle. Financially, well makes as much sense as spending zillion$ on R&D on COVID - vaccines, which if we take into account past history of successful (?) "corona" vaccines such as the yearly 'flu shot... well, say no more !!!

So, a bit of lateral thinking outside the box to treat 20 to 50 patients at a time, or wait 6 months to START preventing a % of vaccinated victims from catching COVID. - at much more co$t ?

(and employ some laid-off Airline Engineering staff to maintain & run them. - Save on paying them JobSeeker !)

EDIT: Yep, got too much spare time between school bus runs....

    Hi,
Err, re-compression chamber actually, but we know what you mean.
    Cheers

I can see at least one issue. To quote from the Wikipedia article "Most cases employ a recompression to 2.8 bars (41 psi)". As far as I am aware no airliners are designed structurally to withstand a pressure in excess of 1 bar, and mostly would be no more than about two thirds of that. Also, I am unaware of any airliner with a fire suppression system as is required for hyperbaric chambers, or the airlock needed for large chambers.
