The daily new cases increased linearly in the first 2 waves, this time it's exponential.

Best thing people can do, once it is safe to do so, is get out and about and spend all those record bank deposits and to spend it in Australia.

In the past you could spot a Melbournian because they were the ones who looked only at the pavement and avoided eye contact - now you will be able to spot them because everyone will be jumping out of the way to avoid any sort of contact.

I read a story recently about schools on the Sunshine Coast reporting a large number of enrolments for next year of children with Melbourne addresses, so the parents must be getting out.

But I've got no flaming flour!
Now Netflix is just wonderful
I like a gutsy thriller
I'm swooning over Idris
Or some random sexy killer
At least I've got a stash of booze
For when I'm being idle
There's wine and whiskey, even gin
If I'm feeling suicidal!
So let's all drink to lockdown
To recovery and health
And hope this awful virus
Doesn't decimate our wealth
We'll all get through the crisis
And be back to join our mates
Just hoping I'm not far too wide

Lots of southerners just went for a wander for 14 days, got a border pass, came in and stayed. It's safer up here, so why would they leave?
I'm actually at the Sea World Nara Resort on the Gold Coast tonight - we got a cheap deal. It's busy, but no international visitors, so I've seen it busier. Car park full though.
In the car park I noticed several vehicles with Qld border passes stuck to the windscreen, meaning they came from the south.

New South Wales – 500 personnel

• 175 ADF personnel are supporting New South Wales police with border control checkpoints on the New South Wales-Victoria border.
• 243 personnel are supporting state police quarantine, reception and repatriation efforts at Sydney airport and hotels.

Queensland – 569 personnel

• 455 ADF personnel are supporting quarantine compliance management efforts, including at airports and hotels.

Victoria – 476 personnel

• 104 ADF personnel are supporting Victoria Police checkpoints.
• 52 personnel are providing support to the Department of Health and Human Services contact tracing and community engagement efforts.
• 63 personnel are involved in medical testing initiatives.
• 27 personnel are assisting in other logistics roles, including the Police Assistance Line call centre in Ballarat
• 6 personnel are providing support to the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre.

South Australia – 154 personnel

• 82 ADF personnel are supporting South Australia Police border control checkpoints.
• 42 personnel are providing support to South Australia Police quarantine compliance management at a regional hotel.
• 7 personnel are providing planning and operations support to SA Health.

Western Australia – 167 personnel

• 123 ADF personnel are involved in quarantine assistance at hotels and at the Perth Airport.
• 5 personnel are providing planning and logistics support.

Northern Territory – 123 personnel

• 79 ADF personnel are providing support to Northern Territory Police at vehicle checkpoints

Australian Capital Territory

• 8 personnel
