But can I just point out that last year most of these "Victorians" who tried to cross closed borders were people who were actually from other States and were returning home to said States?

The media is reporting that these people may have travelling to the State of Origin - if that was the case then they're pretty unlikely to have been born or bred in Victoria.

The difference this time is that there were no police checkpoints on the roads out of Melbourne and it looks like some people may have taken advantage of that.

(*Presuming that they were in Melbourne after the 28th.)
