Laughed at the police story about the 2 blokes who decided to go nude sunbaking on the South Coast, got startled by a deer, ran into the forest, got lost and had to be rescued by the SES, and then got pinged for $1000 each for breaking the lockdown.

Also, the couple from Melbourne who went through NSW into Qld, and got fined $4003 each by Qld for giving false information on border declarations, have also been fined $1000 each by NSW for going to the movies in Dubbo. Apparently going to the movies is not an essential activity when moving interstate.

    It's a funny old world.

If it is only a month wait think of it this way, you will have first and second pfizer jab all done possibly b4 you would have completed your astra second shot, and no concern over astra blood clots however statistically minor.

Always an upside to everything, even death.
Just an update on this - after making more phone calls than I cared to and speaking with my GP, I cannot got AZ so have to wait. It’s all around liability - mass vax centres simply won’t and my GP also won’t without sign off from his insurer - and he said straight up ‘They won’t do that’ so no luck there either. They also don’t have a slot they could fit me into at all so a simple ‘You’ll need to go elsewhere to get Pfizer’

Vic Health were pretty much useless and repeatedly tried to put me through to others or have me refer to their website which doesn’t give any info.

So, will have to keep waiting another 4 weeks at the moment. Yes, certainly benefits as far as getting the second dose quickly but still makes me shake my head about how slow the rollout is here.

The second wave happening now shows we shouldn’t have dragged out heals so much on this.

So here in the ACT no lockdown or real restrictions except wearing masks for the first time. Had none, so I managed to get two off my neighbour so I could wear one at the shops today to buy more masks.

School holidays with kids every where spreading their germs around - I cannot understand why they are exempt from wearing masks as they are super spreaders of everything. If they object a whack will soon sort that. A few people not wearing masks but resisted having a dig at them.

Last week a pack of 50 masks were $39 at the local chemist - today $50 (price gouging). Got some cheaper at another chemist.

Went into Woolies and all dunny paper is wiped out as are the boxes of tissues. WTF - we do not have any lockdown - just as well I got some poo tickets on Sat. I dont understand - we only have to wear masks, no lockdown, still go to the social venues, no real restrictions etc but the dunny paper still gets hit.

I can’t get my head around the fascination of dunny roll myself - I’m sure there’s a thesis in there somewhere for someone on the group mentality that brings this on.

I’ve always thought you needed food first to generate something that the poo tickets need to deal with.

Sounds the same as the rest of NSW, except for the red zone.

Just made the journey from north of Coffs to nearly Albury, to then find out on arrival we are an orange zone (had no idea, it changed overnight), and i can't cross the boarder to take my kids snowboarding for a few days without a covid test and isolation. That was a great 1800km round trip in 2 days back to home.

    Same here.

I have one of the qualifying medical conditions for which ATAGI recommend Pfiza for over 60's. Armed with a letter from my GP I have to apply for an alternative vaccine so no idea when I can get vaccinated.

It's interesting though, on the WA vaccinate website where you register and book for a vaccination, even though I declare I have a past history of one of the medical conditions ATAGI warn against, it still allows me to book to receive the AZ vaccine. I find it strange you get asked to declare you have one of the listed medical conditions but then get asked to consent to receive the AZ vaccine.

Rang the website listed help line and they are scratching their heads too. I suspect I'd get turned away at the vax hub but then again...

Similar situation to Queensland except you go on hold until you give up.

The vast multi layered beauracracy is pathetic. The politics is insulting. The vaccine rollout is outstanding in its incompetence.

We are very lucky in this country that the beleaguered health sector is so committed, despite years of funding cuts and despite ongoing government incompetence.

It’s impossible to avoid politics in this discussion, as it’s so glaringly obvious that politics is not only the problem with the Covid19 response in Australia, but the strategic driver of it.

It's a public health issue and the fight should be led by public health professionals.

The pathetic posturing by pollies, finger pointing, media grabs, photo opportunities, etc all with a view to the next election has cost us dearly. Some of this started years before Covid 19 was even around.

This post is not about politics........... it's about having arrangements in place (including expert people making expert decisions) that deliver real outcomes (or even have measures in place to prevent problems arising in the first place).

As a country we've gone backwards with dealing with the threat of infectious diseases since about 1990.

    cheers, DL

Not sure about where you are, but I think at your age and with a condition you might be able to book online for a mass vaccination centre, if there is one within a reasonable distance, and get Pfizer.
