My wife learnt that there is still government assistance available if you’re unable to work because of the virus
Surprise me that she met the criteria. While it doesn’t fully cover her normal income any is better than nothing I guess.
And one a side note I did get a giggle with the government dropping $0.14 into my bank account…..like thousands off others we have no idea what the $0.14 is for.

All preventable deaths are evil, but it is only COVID that is being politicised.
Across Australia we have around 400 deaths per day - approximately half of which are preventable.
There are over 50 preventable deaths a day related just to smoking alone (this is every day of the year - not just a peak over a few months). Makes you wonder how many hospital beds are currently being taken up by smokers and why doesn’t this data get reported daily?
Indigenous Australian’s can expect to live 10 years less than non-indigenous Australians - preventable and evil. This only gets reported on once a year at best. Why is there no outrage about this?
Globally, over 800,000 children die per year from diarrhoea due to not having access to safe clean water - preventable and pure evil. This is 2,200 children dying every single day of the year for every year we live, and most are under 5 years old! Have you ever seen governments around the world say this is unacceptable and intervene like they have with COVID?
COVID is bad but we will learn to live with this, however it is just the tip of the iceberg on the real health problems with society.
It is disappointing how our state and federal leaders have politicised this for their own agendas, and used it to play state against state.
If smoking were invented now it'd be immediately outlawed. I met an old man in a public hospital about 30 years ago - wildly wrinkled face, skeletal, on an oxygen drip - he said to me, how old you think I am? I shrugged, but thought he'd be about 80. He was 35 - chronic emphysema from smoking.
I used to work for a charity that worked with the most underprivileged in inner Melbourne and our clients were invariably smokers: the view amongst the carers was that it was an awful practice but one of the few pleasures available to people on low incomes - and it was better than some of the alternatives. A client did say to me one time that he expected that sooner or later smokers would be denied medical care for smoking related illnesses, but as we've seen with the unvaccinated in ICUs, the medical profession would never agree to (or, likely, comply with) any such restriction.

The end had me in stitches. To be fair to the federal gov , state governments of all colours failed the rat test. As usual the state government and school scramble took all mine from the wholesalersMy little stash is not for sale. Bet my already placed flu vax orders is next taken from me!
It took me a whole afternoon to get through this thread, but hey, it was 41.6degC yesterday in Perth.
We all remember Bill Gates famous comment, "we can control population through vaccination".
before any one jumps on me, he was referring to preventable high mortality rates of children in poor countries, and because of that,
they wanted lots of children. That was my take on it anyway.
Browsing through Amazon the other day, I came across a book that was endorsed on the cover by Bill.
Interesting hey, and real. would have sold a lot of copies in the last 2 years.

And if was now and he got Covid and died, he would be reported as a Covid death and probably get a mention on the news if he was also vaccinated (“35 yo vaccinated male dies of Covid”).
Diabetes is another largely preventable cause of death - about 45 per day, or 1 in 10 with over 3,000 hospitalisations per day. Again indigenous people draw the short straw with 4 times the prevalence over non-indigenous.
It is despicable how Covid deaths get reported, and scoffed at by some state leaders, while a real health crisis is unfolding under their watch.
And that my friends is my observation & summary of most of your posts.
The horrible feeling that I get when reading these posts is that he is **** scared of opening up & therefore won't unless really forced to.
Say what you like but that is my opinion & I don't even live in WA.
"I'll take Door number 2 Daryl".
The "learning" that has happened over the last 2 years has consisted of "We don't have COVID here so we're doing it right and they're doing it wrong. Don't pay any attention to what is going on over there".
I will say our QR code check in system and associated infrastructure is excellent, but when you have a "rub-n-tug" Massage Parlour in Applecross subject to 3 known cases in a week and they recorded all of 11 check-ins across 5 days it shows how many of the "dense population" are actually playing by the rules.
