Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. I'll go and check.

    EDIT:

It's true what they said about you - you aren't just a pretty face.

    Thanks for that.

Last September, I took up a contract with an ISP to use the NBN. It had a n expiry of 28 days if not implemented. The ISP sent me the modem (which I still have).

The NBN came to connect me to the FTTC. I did expect issues as we've been on Optus broadband cable for 20+ years so our "landline" was on the Optus HFC network, not on the copper to the street.

I was right, the copper to the street was open circuit. The NBN man tried the second pair in the cable (there are 4 wires - 2 pairs) but they were open circuit, too.

No problem, NBN arranged for a team to come to fix it. They came but couldn't do it because of the rain. They returned a week later and dug up the yard and installed a new conduit and cable from the house to the pit in the footpath.

They said "This will trigger an automatic booking to get the tech back to connect you." Right...

A couple of weeks later, we went to the ISP to see if they could chase it up only to be told we were past the 28 days so our contract was in the process of being cancelled. "Can we stop it?" "No, but we'll see what we can do."

That was three weeks ago. We still haven't progressed and they haven't contacted ups even thought they promised they would - and Optus have told us that the HFC (broadband) network will be shut down on the 18th Oct.
    Grrrrr,NBN.
    Ron,you didn't do too bad.
We had one work phone disconnected for 3.5 weeks, our MAIN office number. They eventually sorted that, then disconnected the other number for almost 3 weeks.

The office staff spent hours of wasted time trying to sort it all out.

My 85yr old mother has no land lines at all, since they connected it all up 6 weeks ago.
    Luckily she has a mobile.

One of my brothers has been on the phone for a total of over 12 hours, over 5 calls, plus another today, trying to sort out the issues, every time he rings them they start from the beginning again. Its like getting on the last lap of Bathurst, then you are back to lap one again

They keep saying they are going to ring back and never do.

JEEZUZ Paul, did you have to really remind me of our dealings with AGL ?

It was like they don't have a Data Base to refer to recent conversations & staff verbal intentions & you can spend hours on the phone being passed around to people "who can fix the problem" but when you are connected you find that they are as thick as pig **** & don't know what is going on nor can help & they pass you on to some other incompetent..

I'm talking Digital Meter Changeovers for Solar. If these people ran their own business instead of being propped up by a large monopoly they would go broke in a flash & it would serve them right.

Deep breaths 4bee, deep breaths. Ah that's better.

My changeover with AGL was absolutely painless and done on time. The biggest problem was understanding how to read the meter.

As it should be Ron,but the problem here was we have a separate Pump Shed 200 m away from the house & they wanted us to go to the expense of under grounding a service the whole distance for us to save on 2 x Service charges each quarter. The cost for this was prohibitive & this property only ever had 1x Service charge & the bastards were taking the ****.
They should have known the situation beforehand but not a bit of it.
3 "teams"rocked up at different times, two referred to the Rule Book (a massive piece of Shakespeare) & wouldn't touch it, that is until the 3rd team arrived as arranged & said "Today we are throwing the rule book away" & promptly got on & did their job.

To get this far we had to go to the Ombudsman's office & they followed it right through, et voila it happened. A million phone calls to an OS call centre in the Philippines, 2 million hours on the phone & we finished up at our original connection ie. one service charge for two lots of digital meters. SA Power Networks were great, based here & you could have a conversation with them & early in the peace they had told AGL that what they were requesting was ridiculous & wasn't required by their rules.

    Thieving bastids!

The Vee Wee was like that.

If you didn't replace the insulated battery cover over the battery the seat springs shorted out the terminals when sat upon.

The rest is history & so probably was the car..

Have you been out on a Fire Call, Eevo?
