BUMP. Deserves it.
The way my Disco dumps about a litre of water on my right leg if I get in/out when it's raining.
TD5 exhaust manifold studs.
D2 SLS. I stil miss it, but I don't miss coming back to the car, usually in a very public place, to find it sitting on the bump stops.
Having to unlock the door with the key to get the remote unlocking to work. D2.
The floor screws in a SII A, and the fact that you have to take them out to change the clutch.
The way that some days the windows go up and down, and on others they don't. Both Discos.
Still, I find it interesting that there were many comments about how difficult LRs are to work on.
Sure, Series Landy's have their moments ( steering relay comes to mind ), but try changing a clutch on a FIAT 124 Sport.
Or simply the clutch cable. The last 'easy' car I worked on was a Datsun 1200.
Knowlege of a 'marque' helps. I remember seeing a bloke trying to change the sparkplugs on a Jensen Interceptor.
He'd been at it for about two hours, under the bonnet. It's impossible. I told him to put the thing up on the hoist.
Takes 10 minutes that way. Just a Chrysler V8 after all. From the top you'ld think it was a Ferrari.
I was gobsmacked when I learnt that the way to do the timing belt on a RR Sport
was to take the body off. Once I got over the shock it all made sense. Tell that to
a Toyota mech !
