Well....after no faults found and no recurrence, I thought all was fixed. Until this afternoon when it did the same thing 5 times in the space of about 15km. Each time the faults cleared after a restart, but then came back. Grrrr. Hopefully the missus will be able to get it to the dealer in the morning.

Got the vehicle booked in next Monday, no problems since that time in Portland. Been out for a bumpy ride and no issues.

LR in Melbourne thinks it could be a communications fault. will let you all know after the check up.

Thought I'd post a quick update. The vehicle went into the dealer today. The only fault recorded was a "communication error". The battery voltage was tested as OK but the CCA was down. Battery replaced and park brake module cleaned, so hopefully all is now fixed.

 Cheers

Prolly unrelated but my 2005 D3 HSE was getting lowered suspension ding dongs and all sorts of stupidnish that a restart would clear.... after reading this thread and thinking about the memories it brough back, I haven't had the lowered suspension stuff happen once since the auto was serviced... we were up scrub also and just geting into the bumpy stuff when a transmission warning came on... scared the suit case outta me given where we were. That was before the service as well.

Anyway, the usual ding dong silliness has stopped since the auto service.... I wonder?

 Cheers.

Ummmm......No it's not fixed. After $500, and the dealer saying they can't even look at it until the end of the week, we'll see what they come up with next time! Maybe they'll refund the cost of the previous fix, as it didn't fix the problem...haha

I had same problem for first time Monday this week on freeway at 100km/hr towing camper. Complete loss of power in outside lane (not great with public holiday traffic thundering past!). Similar error messages- main one being engine system fault but also park brake & transmission fault and air suspension fault. Mine is a TDV6 SE 2009 model. The air suspension fault (restricted to normal height) had been on all weekend (which cleared briefly on turning off and restarting each day but couldn't use offroad height or LLAMS). I managed to get going again with key out + lock/unlock sequence and then was only 20 mins from home. Now waiting for report on diagnostics. Regards, David

Well if you happened to be driving through Toowoomba this afternoon, you may have seen my black D3 stopped on the side of the road at Mt Kynoch, followed by a rather undignified trip to the dealer on a tow-truck. Unfortunately it didn't make it to its booked appointment!
We live out of town, and I'm interstate so hopefully the dealer can give my wife a loan car.
 Cheers

Sorry to hear that DDdisco. Hopefully we will both have an answer soon. I note that park brake fault seems common theme too. I have just read all D4 power loss thread as well. I can understand that power loss is designed to protect the engine from damage but also strongly agree with the comments that alittle warning (30-60secs) would be much safer- time to get off the road and out of harms way. I would have thought building in a 30 second 'buffer' with audible/visual warnings before loss of power would be feasible?! Of course even better would be if it told us what the impending "damage" was due too! Cheers, David

The dealer had another look at it today and found a wire with the insulation chafed off it, and shorting on something. Unfortunately I wasn't there to pick it up and find out where it was. It can't have been too well hidden, because they found it pretty quickly and didn't charge for the repair . .
