Gee that front wear sensor is a mongrel to get at.
I didn't change them, but pulled out all the pads and greased them to try rectify a squeal that occurs when not applying the brakes. Seems to have fixed it.

Agreed with front sensor. Broke it and needed to fit a new one.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Fitted an emergency upper tailgate release using two fishing snap traces rated at 20kg. Simple mod and just needs a 1.5mm hole drilled into the latch mechanism.

For now I just secured the end of the line using some push pins. To activate release the top pin and then pull on the free end of the cable.

I couldn't be bothered assing about with the wheel arch trims so just cut an inspection port in the arch to access the plug for the sensor.

Cut a piece of light rubber to go over the hole and glued it in place. Next time just knife through the glue and the job should be a lot easier.

I had to return home this morning and tighten the wheels nut on the RR as I had swapped the spare over due to low tread, I'd used my Impact Wrench on the weekend but as it was early in the morning I didn't want to upset the neighbours so pro'ly didn't leave it on long enough. The tyre started squealing shortly up the road, but I think that was due to hardness, I stopped and checked the nuts anyway and found one loose. I find using my 18 v ratchet driver Ryobi One+ 18V Ratchet Wrench - Skin Only | Bunnings Warehouse works well on the wheel hoist mechanism, also the trolley jack to hold the spare up while threading the cable and t-piece thru the wheel hub and is also good for dragging the wheel out from under the car, on the concrete floor of the garage, not sure how well this would work beside the road.

I know it’s a what have you done thread but thought we usually only post when we have problems so.....this is my what I did today post.

I loaded the family in at 4.45 am, drove 3 hours to Merredin, stopped had breaky, then jumped back in and did another 3 hours to Kalgoorlie. Ran beautifully. Water temp 92-94. Trans oil 72. Engine oil 111. Awesome machine. Love it.

Plan in Kal: 1) to fit 68 ltr water tank with pump in rear and fab frame for false floor. 2) Fit resistors for LED trailer lights. Fit the Llams unit removed from D3. 3) Power to rear anderson plug from camper.

    Did similar...

Drove to Adelaide yesterday - 36c outside and ran like a charm.
Quick night at the pub, appointment this morning and back via the Clare Valley loaded with some bits and pieces for family.
Ambient 40c outside, comfy 23c inside.

Overall a lazy 1100km done. Love this vehicle.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Just got back from 3 nights camping at Marion Bay SA, which is some 3.5 hours from home. Funny thing is that the D4 with approx 1.7-1.8t on the back drove better than the D2 TD5 unloaded. I also returned about 13.5lt/100km with the trailer which is the same fuel economy I got driving the TD5 around town.

Love the 8 speed. Coming home I even passed a couple of cars travelling up the Southern Expressway Hill at 100-110km/h!

Gave it a wash and reinstalled the driving lights, which were off while the winch install was completed.

Love these things when running well. Just had the 8speed auto flush at 80k and arduous cycle service. Up and down the Hume towing 2 tonne trailer at 110, 43deg on the dash, TPMS showing 78deg, aircon happy at 23deg. Shedding heat beautifully. Picture of rig for interest.
