I'd like to run 31 inch diameter, but the choice is so very limited in 18" on my 2.7L so possibly have to go 30.5 inch.

I have LT D697 AT at the moment, but my preferred tyre at this stage is the new version Pirelli AT plus if I can get the LT size I want. I was very impressed with the previous version Pirelli in my D2a.

265/65/18 is around 31.5”,or You could go to the OEM 17’ rim, might give you some other tyre size options.

They used to be worth big money, but are now quite cheap.

The big question would be what do you see the extra 6mm gaining in real world application?

Yep, but I had to think for a bit given the number of replies in the thread, and Mike has a habit of excellent one liners but we sometimes have to search for the prior comment, especially when he has been away for a few days.

Plus I was talking about reducing diameter, not increasing.

Exactly What happened to your D3/D4 today?

That 31” vs a 30.5” tyre will not gain any real world benefit. 31.5” however does come with some drawbacks.

31.5” can rub under certain circumstances, especially with a bull bar up front or Rear AC. And the larger you go, the more risk of being stuck fast if the suspension drops.

I’ve crawled some pretty good stuff on 265/60-18. More than I’d normally do in this vehicle. Sure, nothing like I did in Lara or the D2, but then this vehicle wasn’t ever intended to be punished that hard.

The 265/65/18 does also give many good options from different brands, particularly in LT.

There are less around for the 265/60/18.
