SubscriberLOL - three kids elbow to elbow for more than 5 minutes doesn't work. Everyone knows that the formula is 2 kids = 5 seater, 3 kids = 3 rows.
It is big - it's at least as large as the D4. Have a look at the size of the drivers in the side-profile photos, or it parked next to a G-Wagen at Moab:

Have a look at the amount of space between the driver and passenger in one of the recent photos taken through the windscreen and from slightly above. And the leaked interior - the steering wheel of which looks just like the one in the Moab photos - shows what looks to be a front centre seat.

SubscriberGreat thing about the defender, you cant hear the kids scream. It also has a white noise quality that sends them to sleep. The land rover lullaby.
Will these essential kid control features be standard or optional extras on the new one? Could be a deal breaker.
Got this in the inbox tonight:

I think this is the most realistic comparison ive seen in the many pages of bickering in this thread.
The new Defender wont be targeting dual cab utes (because it's not a dual cab ute) or 70 series cruiser (because Toyota is just running out the clock on that anyway). This is the market they will be after.
If you want a nice tractor then the current ones will be around for a very long time. I'm not planning on selling mine anytime soon and with 70k on the clock it's no worse than when it was new. If you need a tough work vehicle than you will have to start looking at the light trucks (Isuzu, Fuso, Iveco). It's just progress and the way the world works and no amount of moaning on the internet is going to change that.
You should just be thankful that they continued to make the old one for as long as they did. At 20,000 units per year or whatever it was they were able to make it would have made financial sense to ditch it many years ago.
Out of curiosity.. How may of the haters have actually bought a brand new Land Rover in the last 5 years? At the end of the day they are a company that needs to make money and they make no money off people who buy 20YO TD5's and D2's.
I haven't bought a new LandRover in the last 5 years because they have not had a single bloody thing that I would buy , Instead I spent $130,000 of my LandRover slush funds on another brand .
I'll never be spending another dollar on a petrol or Diesel vehicle of any manufacture again , Are you Listening JLR , I have cash waiting for the right 100% Electric 4x4 , and its looking a lot like a Bollinger B1 .
Dont get me wrong, I'd love to buy a new LandRover but I cant see that happening in a hurry, Not excited about Ineos either , not with their BMW ICE engines,
