15 of the Best Large SUVs on the Market for 2020

For JLR to not get a mention is telling when compared to what is listed. Even the New Discovery deserved to be in this list ahead of some of the alternatives.
Agreed the new def has huge opourity in the states, thats why they have been going all out in the states, The cruiser is the only thing that would come close to the new defender in that list, but still in a very different league of vehicle. If thats the US's top 15, I'm glad i live in AU.

In reality there are better US 4x4s not on that list to be fair.

Even though I only have a middling understanding of American off-road culture
I’m still pretty sure The new Bronco will kill any JLR offering for sales in USA
The bronco will do any off-road trails
It will be cheaper than JLR better service network and well its ‘Murican

Of course to carry Or tow stuff you would use an F series
And sure the Yummy Mummies will drive a RangeRover but not a defender

They will sell some but as soon as the Bronco is released sales will falter...

First look: 2021 Ford Bronco revealed as Baja 1000 racing truck | Fox News

Who knows though , maybe JLR only wants to sell a few thousand a month over there and they will class it as a super success? I guess that’s the thing
    What is a success ???

    60/40 Slide/recline rear seat

Are all 60/40's on new def slide recline or is that an option?

I know tilt, slide, recline is only for 3rd row models

Hmm saying it will be able to do any trail is a bit of a stretch as no one has seen anything official about the car yet.

Land Rover have proved the new defender can pretty much do any trail at MOAB and that was with Street tyres at Road pressures.

Did you hear that engine sounds terrible and that's without a muffler.
Being Ford and being American built are not good things in my opinion.

It won't have air suspension probably won't tow much like the Ranger Raptor.

If the shape is anything like that buggy it's going to look quite similar to the new defender in a few ways.

Agree, It will probably sell well in the states and maybe even sell like the FJ Cruiser around the world.

But the new Bronco is a little bit off topic for a new defender thread.. it will be interesting to see all the new 4x4s come on the market in the next few years.

There’s no such thing as ‘American’ culture. It’s one of the most culturally diverse continents on the planet. ...this includes car culture. At a guess I’d say that more people than the entire population of Australia would like a mid sized AWD family SUV like Defender.

Note I mentioned “off road culture”
Although “4wd and suv “ sales make up a huge proportion of sales in the USA
Actual off pavement use of vehicles is minimal compared to Australia

By “off road culture” I was indicating the people who ride trails like the Rubicon / Desert Racing / Moab. The ones who could possibly benefit from the off-road features of a JLR product
But they will in my understanding jump at the new Bronco or Jeep offerings over JLR

When it comes to SUV wagon sales the new defender is tiny compared to a Suburban or Navigator - it will be deemed medium size SUV

    Anyways

    Time will tell

    The New Defender

This is what happens when a Chevy Suburban tries to be compared with a Land Rover Defender.

Yes I’d imagine those ‘off road culture’ guys wouldn’t be interested in any JLR product.

Yes as I said it’s a mid sized SUV.
