    Indicator fitted

    Thanks Wayne for the suggestion

Indicator fitted after finding the radiator clip as fitted, another small job ticked of the list. Did some more sanding of the guard but need more sand paper to proceed any further. cheers

    mudguard paint

painted the front mudguard as i haven't had time to pick up some sand paper, of course it needs paint underneath as well but that needs more cleaning. just happy to be making some progress. will let dry and then get onto the front panel. fibreglass worked a treat. cheers

    under the guard

Well a lot of scrapping to get that black sealer under the panels, OMG its hard work, did not use the grinding discs as they make far too much noise, spin the rubbish everywhere and turn the sealer to fine dust. I find the scrapper to be harder work and takes longer but is more controlled with less noise and mess. anyway loads of rubbish came off and thrown out pic only shows small portion left.

1 pic shows how thick it was applied onto the panel which made removal that much harder

2 pic shows small pile that accumulated while cleaning the panel. Doesn't have to be perfect just clean enough to spray black matt onto given its underneath

3 scrapper and most of the panel done. Needs a little more clean up and paint though did damage the top paint coat, so will need another top coat once bolted up

    update, bit more done

    1. headlight rim set both clamp type (thanks Wayne) sanded, painted and fitted. Completes the look of the headlights

    2. underside of guard finally completed cleaning that is, painted in black matt ready for fitting, just drying for now

    3. headlight rims fitted now it was dry, looking good.

    4. guard now in place after drying, couldn't wait to get the guard on to get the LR looking like a LR should

    5. driver side guard has 3x pair of holes one large one small together in red circled pic, anyone have any idea what this is more, looks standard to me but cannot think of anything that could or should bolt up there. holes are neat hence i think it could be standard or has this been butchered.

    6. Another view of guard in position

    7. Bonnet locking mechanism fitted whilst guard was on. that's it for now

Loving the build mate. Just one thing bugging me - that jute stuff to protect the bonnet and panel from scratching. Why not go for something like this> Holden Firewall Rubber Strip/Bonnet Lacing EH HD HR HK HT HG HQ HJ HX HZ WB lace | eBay

It’s only $20 and would look a bit better. IMHO of course.

    Keep up the good work

I don't know if you're aware of this, but it is possible to remove the bolt on the rim completely and insert it from the other side, so that access is easier. {pic 5)

I would say the guard with the extra bolt holes was fitted to a vehicle with a Holden motor at some stage were they move the front panel forwards for the extra length of the 6 cylinder motor.

    more updates

1-2 Found some bolts a little longer then i wanted but fitted for the rear tailgate rib section, i know its not flat on the inside but i think i can live with that. the smaller screws just didn't look right and these bolts are overkill but they look neat enough

3-4 had some left over defender lights so thought i might as well fit these brake lights to the rear, began drilling with a timber hole saw, but then drilled smaller holes, then re applied the hole saw and done. just need to source some new screws or bolts, test fitted looks ok obviously not original but close enough for me

5 view from the rear of both brake lights temp fitted

6 i have posted this image before but am in need of another pig tail, this was way off not sure i can heat and re bend into shape if i cannot find another. suggestions welcome.

    a little more

1 did more sanding and putty filling today on the front guard, its slowly coming into shape

2-3 p/side out guard cleaned somewhat and putty filled the guard slowly back into some shape

4 one of the guard stabilisers was badly bent so used one good one to straighten the old one into similar shape, came up better then i thought, just needs light sand and paint
