Stripping a gearbox is easy - its putting it back together that gets tricky!

Don't ask me - rebuilding gearboxes is beyond the realms of my expertise and experience for now.

I would give it a crack if I had a good mentor to guide me through it, but I would be very hesitant to go it alone...

The series Gear Box is designed to be one of the most repair er
friendly gearboxes ever made. You will never learn if you don't have a go.
Go ahead and strip it down there is plenty of help here to guide you through.
Thats the thing doing a series Land Rover and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Go on get cracking.........Mark

Yep, I agree. They are really a vintage car box so very simple to work with. Just depends how bad it is. You will have no trouble pulling it down or resembling it. Just have to identify what is tired in there and get rid of any end float. Make sure the detent springs are good.
