This vehicle had lost it's Firefly body some time previously so I wonder if it is the same unit from the Blue Mountains described and photographed by 4Bee in 1989?

Sorry about that the post in question was not yours (tankradio2) and not even in this thread! Need-tell-someone

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Hi there - that would be David Hewett (think that how you spell it)

    As for the picture

Its not Alex's Firefly - as there is slight differences with the rear aloy panels & rear bumper. Is also different to the one I purchased

Yaaaaaaya - one month to pick up.....

    Hi there

For the record - the serial number is 152103712......

Makes it the last one of the Fireflys delivered to Snowy Hydro Scheme.

    Hi there all

Its home safe and sound - was a great trip indeed with a great outcome.

Thanks again Troy for a a cuppa, and the hospitality.

As for the 130 (great car tow car) and did a great job averaging 11-12lts/100km - not to bad as it was a very heavy load.

Just before the border we did a front tail shaft uni joint, was not a major thing as we just removed the front drive shaft and drove the remianing km home on the rear shaft with center diff lock engaged.

Well "as for the firefly" - very impressed with the purchase, the vehcile has only doen 14000miles from new and drives great. The pump runs but will need a new set of bearings in the near future (due to sitting, and lack of lubrication)

Thanks again - and will post pictures later

    Hi there all

    bloody border raiders
    Nice.......

    As promised "Pictures"

The next pictures are taken today in our creek - its a pleasure to drive, as its only done 14000miles from new. As you can see my young daughter just loves cameras....

The main pump and the friction drive primer works, but have organised to get new bearings as they have been run low in grease.

My initally plan is to polish the fadded paint work and to get everything operational. I am unsure about a total restoration as of yet as it is in very good condition for its age.

You can see within the pictures - I have started cutting and polishing the paint work (see the different colour of the front panels to the rear)

    "go the border raiders!!!":

    well done wayne....

I agree, just a cut and polish... can you get the "firefly" stickers remade? or would it be easier to take it to a signwriter and let him/her fill the gaps where the gold has come off (eg fill in the outline)?

very jealous....Youll be runing out of room....being a mate and all I feel I should try and help you out.....when should I come up to collect the s1 fire tender?......

again, well done.....RED BARON!! Now you need a leather flying hat, goggles and a "beegees" scarfe!!

(and by the way, they are impressive but the fact they are all operational is even more impressive...)

PS:- you are indeed the "landy fire man"

    Hi there all

Well a tidy up of the Firefly has commenced - not a quick as I would have liked...........but going well. Well its had a mechanical going over, oils changed brakes adjusted and bearing replaced in the pump (the pump lives and works well)

I need help from the Forum Members:

In the pictures posted below I am after some alloy plate to repair the rear pump panel - you will notice the two differnt types within the pictures. Its an unusal tread pattern and I am hoping some one may know where there could be some either second hand or if know where is may be sourced new.

Holes in the main pump panel.......needs to be replaced

    The two different paterns.

I have also managed to source new pump valves, and second hand suction lines.

PS - for those whom may have an old fire/police siren in there shed for a worthy restoration please PM me.....

    All the best

    Wayne
