    Rebuilt LH Brake Cylinder.
Is there some sort of mesh cover over the air intake hole, as in Pic I noticed 3 small ( screw ? ) holes.
    Thanks.

Gearbox filler/level plug - usually access it from underneath.

There should be a cover over this heater intake hole.
Two types, one looks like a louvre, the other is a round cylinder with a fixing flange on the one end and a mesh grill on the other.
They are joined to the heater fan plenum by a foam "donut".

PhilB is correct about the air intake for the blower. It should look something like this: HEATER AIR INTAKE WING MESH/TRIM TO FIT Land Rover SERIES 3 | eBay

Need one? I have a couple spares - PM me.

All of your rust looks repairable. Have you removed your windscreen yet? It's possible there will be a little surprise in there for you. I repaired my first firewall with a stick welder - that was doable but difficult for me with the welder I had access to. My 2nd firewall I repaired I did with a mig - easy as pie as long as you take your time. I even made up the repair sections myself.

Mate - have you taken off your tow-bar plate/tongue? When I removed mine on my Series II the rear cross member was rusted badly behind the tongue. The tongue itself was fine - but water/mud had got behind it and had created a hole about the size of a fist, neatly hidden..

    Thanks,
grey-ghost, Phil B and debruiser, for you comments.
Phil B, I found the foam donut inside the guard !!!!
grey-ghost, I will have a look behind the tow-bar plate and let you know what I find.
debruiser, will pm you, just as well start collecting bits I need. Thanks for the offer.
Pulled off some lovely carpet pieces, to discover this hidden under lots of BOG !!!!

RH door pillar, looks not to bad, and sounds good when tapped with small hammer.
LH door pillar, ' small ' hole.
LH foot well, lots of bog, removed to find this.

Also, looking up under front windscreen, from inside, can see rust patches and holes.

Hope you know how to weld!
Most of the bits you need can be made using a simple bender though.
Unless you want to buy replacements sections which are available at a price.

Please keep the post going. Great info for all of us.

    Phil.

    Hi Phil,
A mate around the corner, from me, welds for a living, he runs his own Agricultural repair business from home.
Another is a Ferguson tractor restored and does his own welding,
Plus my mechanic, is also a welder, so have a few around me to ask and get help from.
I have stick welded since I was young, but will look maybe at a Chinese, DC welder/plasma cutter, or small gasless MIG.
