Fitted an APT steering protector to the front, son gave me a hand and managed to skin a few knuckles , told him he'd better get used to it if he's going to buy a Defender.

and noticed I now have a leak from the n/s hemisphere/knuckle.

I picked up a 2nd hand snorkel from a rolled Deefer, so Ive sanded it back to remove the scuff marks (well, they are still there providing patina, but they are less.
Cleaned it with the hose today there was a LOT of dirt in there....

Also washed down the TJM bar which will be going on.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Yesterday I ensured my County was undriveable, by stripping down the driver's side front hub to replace CV, and associated **** rovertracks axle. Local parts supplier didn't have an axle to suit in stock so can't put it back together properly at the moment.
Today, I was mucking around trying to get my Series timed again and worked out the problem with that one...the flange that the clamp clamps on to to hold the dizzie in position is fractured, so won't clamp up tight enough, and lazily rattles itself back to its favourite, badly timed, position.
New dizzie and axle to be ordered tomorrow...though I might try a coke can fix on the dizzie when it cools down a bit.

    Uhm...Nothing!
Nothing wrong with it so I've been driving it!
Forgot how much I love that car
I didn't think Td5s liked hot weather but it's been running better than ever, minus some turbo lag when you plant it with the aircon on full
    I need more though.
    I need a classic rangie.
    Or an isuzu.
    Or both.

Those APT steering guards look good - its on my wish list.

'George' got a very thorough polish - could be the best he's ever had - and is looking resplendant (apart from the dints, scratches and faded patches).

Fixed the lights in the ARB bar in the D4.
Had a blown globe and sick of the yellow tone in the Parker as opposed to the crisp white of the D4 headlights.
Fitted some sealed LED bulbs to the Supplied lamp units and now the White is LED white and the indicator flashes a brighter light.

Whilst I had the bash plates off figured I would throw the Winch on that's been sitting in the workshop taking up space.

2 minutes with the Multimax to remove the plastic that has to be given clearance for the winch to fit, then unbolt the clutch lever and move forward 1 position.
Lay on back and bench press into position and holding with 1 hand, bolt through from the front

Tip: no need to remove bar to fit a winch

sometimes i just crawl under my car with some degreaser and a rag and clean stuff. It's a kind of meditative experience.
I'm no mechanic, so i just spend some time looking at how the parts connect and interact with each other.

    rain drops and sunbeams

The other day I set to clean the workbench off, so I could make a frame to slide the Land Rover R380 gear box and transfer box home onto the back of the engine.

Well the workbench is as messy as it ever was and the frame hasn't been welded yet!

But the workshop is getting one hell of a makeover at the moment, given the price of a packet of screws, I have saved myself a small fortune by getting sorted together a heap of screws alone and I have started to replace a lot of power boards and extension cords with the runs of power wire done in 20 mm conduit, I kinder like the idea of not getting tangled up in cords.

Once the shelving is moved across to the furthest wall, I will be able to work comfortably on the Land Rover collection inside, instead of dodging rain drops and sunbeams outside.

Took my 15yo grand daughter for another driving lesson (on the property) in the 2a. Coming along quite well - managing gear changes surprisingly well. Emphasises just how easy these are to drive if you come to them without any preconceptions.
