I knocked this up today; secure and rainproof ventilation. I'm hoping that it'll work with the vents to keep the car cool when parked in the sun. The vents on their own don't seem to cut it; hopefully this will get some circulation happening.

It just slots into the existing window channel and is held in place by the window.

Still looks a bit shabby because I haven't scraped the excess sealant off. I haven't decided if I want to paint it yet.

Investigated a slight jerk when going between forward and reverse in the 110. Found one bolt loose on the front rubber bush of the RH lower link on the back suspension. Retorqued all three, the loose one failed to torquer, removed it and found the nut is stripped. Replaced it, but as I did not have a nyloc nut, double nutted and loktited it until I get a new nut.

Did not fix the symptom. I am now thinking sticking handbrake, possibly due to the cable on the way out.

Decided to finally fit a set of LED lights to the rear of the 130 on the weekend.

One of my FYRLYT's wasn't working. Turns out that when I pushed the relay into its holder it pushed one of the terminals out.

Making a battery box to go in the RHR spot where I have removed the third row seat. Drilled holes in the floor for bolting.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Due to an annoying squeak that had gone on for ages, I had wifey convinced we needed a new Defender. She even said yes, only for me to wedge a roll of paper towel between the trim around the Alpine Window and the body and the squeak stopped. So I am not sure if I still have permission to get a new one

This week made a big difference to reducing the noise in my new defender.

I have grown up with defenders and series 3s but have to say the noise of a stone flinging up in my new one is 10times worse than Dad's old TDI. Maybe it is is 20 odd year of dirt and oil dulling it.

Anyway have taken on board some tips from this forum and amongst them have this week have put rhino lining in the rear wheel arches, rust proofed under body, put some closed cell foam in the cargo area and also passenger and front floors.

Have to say I- and more importantly the wife - am impressed.

Charlie got a long overdue wash and after almost a month sitting in the garage is back on the road.

However..... The whole fleet was also washed and Lady Penelope had nicked Charlie's spot in the garage so he is now living under the shade cloth.

    Cheers
