The Series 2a is booked in for a pink slip tomorrow. So I spent a fair bit of the day going over it. Adjusted handbrake, checked everything worked, pressure washed underneath, put tonneau cover on, checked tyres.
Found why there is a smell of burning oil - fortunately had a spare rocker cover gasket, so replaced it. It had broken two inches from the back on the LH side and was leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold.

Accelerating from 80 to 100, foot planted to floor, and blew the turbo intercooler hose off the Td5. Sudden woosh of air, loss of power, and cloud of smoke followed.
As luck would have it I had just remove the tools from the car on the weekend as well after cleaning the car.
No drama - pulled up, popped the hose back on, and used a 5 cent coin to tighten up the hose clamp!
Just another day in Landyland...
Yesterday took the 2a into town to get a pink slip. As expected, no problems whatever with that.
It is going really well, however, no problem keeping up to the 100kph speed limit, in fact, several times had to ease off as I found myself over, also a bit concerned at the rate fuel gauge was dropping!

Big day yesterday with the youngest heir fitting stuff to the Defender. Great having a tradie for a son.
Fitted the Mantec rear wheel carrier and door stay. Note the AULRO wheel cover looking impressive. Also fitted the Mulgo extended seat runners and extended rear door openers which both work great. Also the headlight covers which needed trimming to avoid the ARB bullbar. Very happy with results. Now have rear light guards and Traxide 160 controller to fit (thanks to AndyG). So a big step forwards. Now to save for rear drawers.

Touch up paint arrived in the mail so filled in a big chip in the front from a flying rock on a recent 5 rocks trip, as well as 4 big grooves in the top of the back panel above the rear tyre caused by me reversing in to my garage from the inside. I discovered that its a good thing I'm not a surgeon but you cant see the bare metal anymore so thats good enough for me
.
Done the "washing up"
Cheers, Mick
