Ripped my hair out trying to understand the vagaries of the 14CUX.
When I connect my multimeter to the fuel pump harness, I get 12V with the ignition for 3 seconds as expected, then 0V. But once it starts cranking, 6.5V.
For the time being I've spliced a live ignition feed direct to the pump and a diode in the original harness for safety's sake. Drives beautifully that way for 100s of km on end.
I'm happy enough with that fix but I just want it to run properly as the factory intended![]()
Conducted some performance testing as part of the MAF bypass debate currently running on the D2 forum.
Last night: Took a million photos of the fuel injection system that Bee-utey installed in the County for another thread.
Also noticed that the new rear, passenger side LED tail light was out. Tested the circuit and only got 9V! Wired a temporary earth to the body and it lit up again but still only at 10V.
Hooked up the speedo cable that I forgot to reconnect when I did the indicator light mod in the dash.
Noticed that all of the dash illumination was out after I put it back together.
Cursed my fists of ham and decided to call it a night. The dash nights could wait for another night. Turned off the interior light and the dash lights came back on. Slapped forehead with my fists of ham.
Tonight: Uploaded 0.000011 million of the photos mentioned above.
ordered my parts for disc brake conversion from heystee in the Netherlands. 2 housings and 4 hubs. $2350 including freight

I found you can happily drive around with the charge light on??? Well after 250,000 km it stopped working, I can't blame it as I dunked it in the mud a few times since I bought it.
I tracked down a new alternator today. Then spent 3.5 hours fitting it.
Ok I had to grind down a 36mm spanner I had to get the fan off, check here a few times for tips and double check my work.
All good the charge light goes out.
Adjusted (again) the rear Koni dampers. This time they are too stiff!!!!!!!
Last 3 settings were too soft.
Will be doing it again tomorrow.
Haven't touched the fronts they feel good.

got to work with a lovely burning smell from under the bonnet, found the generator smoking on my 1970 2A GS
It had been a bit noisy but didn't have time to sort.
stripped it at lunchtime and found the NDE bushing worn through, made up a new one and fitted a grease nipple, the end cap spacer was fitted backwards, this effectively sealed the oil port completely!
Put it all back and drove home happy at 4.
