Well over the past 2 days, I had to get this one out for a wash

it was parked up last time in a hurry as it was going to rain, and subsequently did not get it's cover back on, and it stands next to my grit blast cabinet anyway 3 vehicles had to have a wash 113-372, 112-587 & 112-501

we were providing transport for 'Relay for Life' Cancer survivors here in our local Gov't area, gee I must be getting old myself as it took me 2 days to make the Land Rovers presentable, here they are waiting for the parade to start

all in all well worth the effort, all vehicles now garaged & covered, no easy task on your own as my apprentice (swmbo) is away in Sydney with her Bonsai club, anyway that's been part of my day, cheers Dennis

Finally started putting the Disco back together to sort out the auto cooler pipes.
Sump off, magnet back in, all sump bolts and spacers back in, checked tightness of re-tightened auto cooler pipe (which will now be an 'every 5k item') and went to remove the fill plug to start filling....
Nope.
Not Happening.
Try a bigger wrench, break my 3/8" to 1/4" adapter in my hex drive piece....

Take sump off again, Get very big allen key and mini sledge. Finally.
Filling it tomorrow instead.

Fitted a 'glove box' in the puma, then installed the Ex Box. I'm not doing the wiring relocation just yet, going to use it mainly for storage and wiring for accessories for now.
Might get around to installing the rear door strut tomorrow, if all goes to plan.

I overhauled the brakes on a series 3, 109 landy I bought a couple weeks ago from u-pull-it at Elizabeth. Brake pedal was seized. Clutch pedal was seized. Overhauled both pedals, master cylinders, clutch slave, all wheel cylinders, new rear shoes, fronts were almost new, fitted a second hand booster I had lying around (not sure if it works yet). Just got the hard part left......bleeding the brakes. Clutch works great. It has a 186 fitted and a 5 speed box mated to original transfer. Not sure on the make of the gbox. was originally a 6 cyl as it has bigger brakes. Not a bad couple or 3 days work. Runs sweet. Apparently its been sitting for a few years under cover. Only rust found was rhf dumb iron. easy patch up. Need a couple windscreen glasses now?? Anyone??

When I get frustrated with the little things that go wrong, I hide in the back of the workshop, then grab the biggest box of assorted nuts, screws, washers and bolts I can find to sort into their correct places.

Why did I take this drastic move? Well, I had struck a deal with a bloke from up the road this morning, who has just opened a tyre retail and repair outlet. He needed a trailer electrical socket fitting to the back of his Hilux and I had a alloy wheel off 'Fred' with a slow leak around the bead that I couldn't shift the bead past the safety ridge( first problem ). He took my wheel to repair and I told him I could wire up his trailer socket tomorrow morning. All good at that point .

He dropped the wheel back this afternoon and told me he couldn't find his spare trailer socket ( second Problem). "That's alright" I told him I would have one here I could use. Before he went we discussed the likelihood of obtaining bias ply 6.00 x 16 tyres for the Series one's with a pattern like the Firestone Jeep Service, they may be obtained from oversea's but they would need to be ordered in bulk to make it a worthwhile proposition ( Third Problem ).

After his discussion with me, the tyre bloke went to go and happened to look at the other wheels on 'Fred', He was dismayed as he had the repaired tyre on the other way around with the raised white lettering on the outside ( Fourth problem), being a old softie I told him that's Ok I will just put it on the back for a spare. Afterwards I had second thoughts as I was thinking about my friend from Bruny Island who I ridiculed for having his new tyres fitted with the white lettering showing to the outside. Oh boy! Am I going to cope it from him?

Then I went to get my spare trailer socket and found it was a type that has a couple of contacts wired to the lid, another problem ( Fifth problem). That led to the sorting in the workshop, I did managed to find one bolt that I was looking for, it is for the starter motor on the Massey Ferguson backhoe I am rebuilding, but still couldn't find the ones I needed to replace the four missing studs in the sump ( Sixth problem ).

Just as well I don't drink! ----- much! where's that Cold Stubby?

Not necessarily - apart from the fact that they can be fitted to any Series Landrover, the bigger brakes were fitted to all 109s in late Series 3 production.

The most direct way (other than putting the VIN into Calvin) is to look at the bulkhead. This has a much more pronounced engine bulge in the six.

Not a Nissan Cab Star 5 speed conversion is it?

Went to a clearing sale in the 2a, towing my tandem trailer. Fielded questions about the 2a from about half a dozen people, some reminiscing, one talking about his - "it goes, but is in bits".
