I agree, it would be nice if you could get tube that would fit snugly inside the original without needing to press it in. Have you thought about machining to OD to fit tightly. Without knowing the long side length I am guessing it would fit in a reasonable lathe like a Hafco AL335/336.

Yes I have thought about machining down some schedule160 73mm tube to fit, but I have to purchase a whole length of it (6m) but I only need 1.2m. Long side tube is approx 750mm, short side 400mm approx. I would have to machine it to just under 68mm. The hollow bore I can get at the right length is 66.4mm od. So .8mm tolerance either side.

1.6 mm is a fair bit.

I am sure others would be interested if you sold pre-machined sections the right length (e.g. me).

Having a close fit would reduce the stresses on the outer tube. Adding a few plug welds between the two tubes along the length would help too, but you run extra risk of distortion and leaks.

OK, well will wait for a price on a length of pipe and go that way. I can get enough for 5 diffs out of a length, and ballpark price I got today for a length was $350. So $70 a diff plus machining. If I can find someone willing to do that at the right price then its looking feasible financially.

OK, well I will get a length in and try find someone who can machine it up for next to nothing.
All I need is an exact internal measurement of an axle tube. For me to do that means stripping my diff, which I will do IF I have to.

Champion Brian. If you can get me all diameters and lengths each tube should be cut to that would be fantastic
