I am fortunate in that I have an ARB bullbar on the Defender which has the eyelets for fitting a shackle. The genuine LR bullbar apparently does not have these eyelets.
There has been some discussion that these are not rated recovery points, but ARB have assured me they are :?
The only problem I can see with the eyelets and the JATE rings is their location being too low, especially once the vehicle has become stuck. We had this problem only last weekend.
I think a good solution to this problem is the Dixon-Bate type of tow-jaw or something similar which can be bolted to the bullbar or factory bumper. The same type of jaws were used on all the Camel Trophy vehicles and now the G4 vehicles. Certainly rated and in a good convienent location for recovery.
The only problem I can see is with the NSW RTA next time it comes to a rego inspection, as it does protrude beyond the line of the front bumper  :?
