I have a Fairey O/D on the SIII and would always recommend an oil stabiliser (Moreys or similar).

Even with the thicker oil, they seem to lose it pretty fast!!!

I found that taking off the top inspection plate, and drilling the pin size breathing hole out and tapping it to fit an air hose fitting; then doing the same with a top inspection plate on the transfer case and joining the two with some hose, allowed it to breathe a lot better and not lose oil (anywhere as quickly).

I got mine 2nd hand and it whined, but I found that the reduction in engine noise more than compensated for the increase in O/D noise. It's just a different noise to get used to. The oil stabiliser helps a lot though.
