Don't know how one of these would go in a Disco, but I recently sold this F100 which had a 6.5 Chev V8 Diesel installed by Brunswick. The vehicle was previously owned by Brunswick at one stage according to the paperwork. It was two wheel drive only, had a 3 speed C6 auto and Ford 13 inch diff. As long as you didn't go above about 105 km/hr on a long run, it got close to 10km / litre. Needed another gear or two (as overdrive) and would have been a brilliant vehicle. I originally bought it to use as a Pilot Vehicle, replacing a HiAce diesel van which just didn't have the grunt to keep out in front of some trucks these days when the sign was up.

SWMBO made me get rid of this to make room in the shed after I bought the first Disco. Should never have let her talk me into selling it. For those who appreciate a healthy exhaust note - this thing always got a few looks when you drove it up the main street.
    Cheers .........

Might have a play on the TAFE college dyno one day with a 10mm spanner and a screwdriver...

I think 550-600Nm is possible from a 4BD1T based on the fuel pump doing 120cc per thousand shots, it'll require around 30psi boost to burn that amount of fuel cleanly though.
NEF do a 3.9L diesel with that amount of torque standard, it runs 25psi boost but is commonrail. With our mechanical injectors we'll need more air to burn cleanly.

How long it'll last at that, I'll let you know. I'm probably still 6 months away from that level, still collecting and building the necessary parts.
I don't think you'll find a landrover box that'll handle it though. I'm using the Isuzu 5sp manual.

I'm currently running 20psi boost, no intercooler. I've averaged 10km/l over the last 2500km driving it the way I like to.

At $20K for a conversion, that buys a hell of a lot of Unleaded petrol and even more LPG.
And if one was to spend that sort of money you still only end up with a $6000-9,000 disco unless you can find a buyer to part with more

I would love more info on this swap this is what I have spent the last two weeks looking for info on how to do it except in a Range Rover Classic.

So any write ups how to's or good sites with some DIY info would be greatly appreciated.

Easy, its a chev, all ya need is engine mounts and an adapter, or T700 conversion. The secret is the cooling, once thats sussed it easy. If a moron like me can fit one anyone can

So how did you handle the cooling of that beast? Did you run into any issues on fueling. I'm guessing you had to pull the in tank pump and switch to a different feed system. Did you have to do anything with the torque converter? Was there any clearance issues for the firewall, inner fenders fan to radiator etc... Did you lose any articulation when offroading?

Oh and just checking my math here but you get about 15 mpg out of this set up?

Yea I know I'm full of questions lol but I'm looking at one tired 3.9 and wondering what I can do to add some spice to the rover under the hood.

    Thanks in advance
