What are you wondering? At the moment mine doesn't blow any smoke at all, now that worries me.

I was meaning the smoke you'd get when winding a NA one up to the 195hp level.

looking at the Marks adapter and they say will need to move the transfer??

be a mission of a job if have to do that.. I would bugger that idea and just put in an injected 5.0 out of a VR commy to the ZF.

Marks don't do a t700 adapter thats why i asked, only a t400 or 4L80E. Not to familiar with wahts involved with moving a LT230, but think tohe transfer case lever would have to be moved back, and handbrake converted to cable would make that bit easier. driveshafts altered is easy.

    G'day,

Have a look at this, it's a bloke with a 4L80E mated to a LT230 - might give you an idea of the dimensions and other bits. Hope it helps.

It's a 91 RR. The other idea I'm looking into is the old buick 300 ci v8 same family as the 215 v8 supposedly direct bolt up to the tranny and motor mounts. I'm still researching that though. So far it's down to the diesel and the 300 for my final choice.

By mods to the 700 I'm assuming beefed up internals are what you mean to handle the extra torque.

Just in case you haven't already discounted the 4BD1T. Mine averages 10km/l (28mpg), could easily break 30 if driven nicely. But who does that?

Spins all four on gravel up to 80km/h (3rd gear).

Just found this thread on 4BTswaps.com about the chev V8 diesels. Scary stuff, but it is a site by cummins fans so keep that in mind.
