Please excuse my ignorance but does worn bearings not point to poor oil supply?
Might be worth checking delivery pressure at the turbo. I'm not sure which is more important, pressure or volume. I'm sure others will comment.

Surely the only way it can touch the housing is if the bearings fail?
I wonder if the oil restrictor in the supplied banjo fitting is too small? - maybe its a generic fitting, also suited to BB turbos which need less flow?

Mine makes a whirring noise for a few seconds on engine shutdown. Spoke to a few turbo experts who say it's definitely not normal for a TD04. Some anecdotal comments on various forums say its normal for a BB turbo but some journal bearing turbos are also known to do it. Not good for my confidence in the Kinugawa turbos...

Looking back through the thread, you got the oil feed from the steel pipe that runs from filter housing to main oil gallery. You also mentioned that the hole originally had s pressure gauge and you were going to use a T piece. Maybe you've ended up with a restriction there. Pretty sure flow is the important factor, and IIRC the Garrett site has some guidelines as to suitable flow rate for their turbos if there's nothing specific for yours. I think I've got notes at home but OS at present so can't check.

Sorry for my late rely guys. Checked oil flow. It was the first thing i checked. Started the car up and after two seconds oil started pouring out of my hose end seemed to be alot coming and pretty quickly had it off to a clear plastic bottle. The oil t's straight of the pressure switch.

Paid for the repair. Will let you know its back in and going again.

I took the opportunity to push my egt probe in a little further into with the manifold turbo out of the way. (Anyone fitting an egt probe to a manifold. Make sure you do it before you fit your manifold to your engine, or else youll hit the engine side cover... pita).
Never got a reading over 680.

Yesterday I had a phone call from a member on here who recently fitted one of these Kinugawa turbos on his 6x6 perentie. Had a terminal shaft failure about 300km from home. Shaft snapped completely and most of the compressor blades ended up in his intercooler - lucky he had one otherwise they would have been ingested into the motor! He had to do a fair bit of hose modifying to do to get it home as a NA motor. Not a good report for these turbos.
