Thread: Embarrassment

Hey Jason and Karen and WhiteD3 and Gillie, my heart goes out to all of you. I have a partial understanding of what you're enduring as my 18 year old son (I'm 50) has had OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) now for around 3 - 4 years. It can be a real strain on a family and to have support from those you love is vital and you're lucky to have it. Talking to you specifically there Jason, and the others (D3 and Gillie) are saints for providing support as they have for their families. I think this thread in particular is indicative of the support and love we feel for you, even though most of us don't know you in person. It has to be the most quickly subscribed thread I've read here; so many responses and support in such a short time. I can't believe I missed it. I agree with all those positive comments from so many and you are truly braver than you realise. Great to see the mug shots, too. Always good to put a face to the name. The way the mind controls us, all of us, is such a strange thing. Why do some people get depressed, etc when others don't? Jason, I think you've got some damn good reasons for your "condition", for want of a better word. Mate, given what I've read about your childhood you're doing really well to where you are now, so you really are a survivor and fighter. Jason, if it were any other condition I'd be there in a heartbeat to help, but obviously that won't help here, will it?! You're already taking huge steps in your own self help and treatment just by starting this thread and then maintaining it; it shows true courage and committment. In fact, I'm in awe of you; truly, cos I don't think I'd have the same level of courage. I sincerely take my hat off to you; and it's a big hat! BTW, sexy beast of a truck. What other vehicle of the same vintage can look that good. Oh, apart from our wives of course. lol. As with all the others, I offer my help and encouragement if you ever need it.
    cheers Gerald

Yeah, its sitting down at All4X4, problems with the ECU are sorted, will truck it back to Edgy on Monday for the mechanic to flush out the radiator and then I will have to get the tranny flushed out also. Woko reckons there is a good place at Maitland that worked on the tranny of his brothers Freelander, so I will give them a ring next week. I am starting to get fed up with the whole thing, Freelander has been off the road for a month now, which is unbelievable.
Drove past your place today saw your nice green Landy in the driveway, unfortunately I was on a tight time schedule so I couldn't stop. However if an old bloke walks up one day and says "gooday Jason" it'll probably be me.

Hey Jason - I bet ya don't realise it yet - but I reckon you are the one helping out a lot of other folk on this forum just by posting your daily achievements.
I am absolutely inspired by your story.
    WELL DONE MATE.

It's all like the "Chocolate Elephant" - My son looks at his school homework and wonders how he is going to get it all done.
I tell him that the secret to getting the big task done is like eating a chocolate Elephant - one bite at a time!
Keep eating Jason - looks like you have eaten a leg off your elephant already!

p.s. - I am proud to be part of the LR community, and this thread galvanises my pride.

Good evening Fatty and Jason (and everyone else)
Driving home tonight I was thinking about you guys and wondering what I was going to read about tonight. I had a crappy day at work but you guys certainly help me put my day in perspective.
Nothing to add - Happy to listen
    Thanks

A little bit more insite, jasons bigest fear is throwing up when he was a kid if any of the kids got sick their father would say have something to eat or eat your tea you will feel better then would go off at them for wasting when they where sick, work that out.even now if he is sick the whole neighbourhood knows.when we first started dating we where never allowed to go out we allways had to go where they were going..when his grandmother died we went to the funeral but for jason to get there we left 4hrs before to get there on time & he couldnt eat for 2 days before incase he felt sick..
His second bigest fear would be the dentist he has bad teeth when he was younger if he got a tooth ache they just said take a panadol or would say put some gloves on it to numb it not take them to a dentist..well to make things worse he had to have a tooth pulled about 16 years ago the dentist said only take 10 mins & he was rude as ,jason had a panic atack & the dentist just got ****ed off so that made it worse & took 2 & half hours to get the tooth out ,it was a bad tooth but not that bad .well when we left jason had a cracked jaw serverely cut gum & no stitches we couldnt stop the bleeding & when i rang the dentist back he just said to rinse it out with some peroxside..he couldnt eat for three days had to suck bex up threw a straw for the pain, hence he will not go back to a dentist..
jason used to work for balcombs scrap metal & had an account at the garage across the road to get fuel & grub he liked his pie at 4 in the morning, they told him never have an account,,,well one night he game over for t at my place we where doing the dishes & his father rang up abused the hell out of him & told him to get home ,they where going threw his draws & found his account blew the **** out of him over it..mind you he had had it for about 2 years & paid it in full every friday, they where just ****ed off cause it was money they could of had..
he allso has in the front of all our cars an old icecream container incase his sick its a comfort thing if it helps him get out i dont care what he has in there.
he missed our kids birth because his mum wouldnt let him drive as we didnt have a car at the time & she only had a 2 door little mazda 323 but she wouldnt let him drive so he didnt have to be in the back seat with no way out or feel in control if he was driving..thats all he wanted but na your not driving my bloody car she said..ah well not the end of the world..
He also worked at the old solo servise station on bluegum road jesmond he was on very minimal wages but he got his fuel for free & had acsess to the work shop & towtruck when ever he wanted well parents would say we mite borrow your car tomorow but never said for definite that was what they wanted just mite well he got up to go to work no note on the table to say we need your car so he went to work well he got it when he got home though because he took the car & didnt walk from marylands to jesmond.plus they would come in when he was at lunch & fill their car up & tell the boss to put it on his tab but jason wouldnt say anything as he knew he would of got the **** blown out of him if he did...so he just left it..
