RJ said out to the jump up is horrendous. Haven't heard of beyond that so I will ask around.

    Thanks for that.

We've noticed a bit of rain west of Gapuwiyak, but Sharon & Alfred have said it's not enough to worry about at present.

Hopefully, the heavy stuff will hang off for a few weeks.

..Re. the track conditions over the last 150ks into Gove. It was very corrugated in August, so can only imagine it may have got worse in the last couple of months.

I believe there has been some storms to the west of Gapuwiyak.

And right you seem to be .... Alfred said the rain looked like it was west of Rammo (Ramingining for those who don't know where Rammo is) possibly further down the track from us on our side of the Goyder River.

Alfred's cousin brother from another mother is coming back tomorrow from Darwin in a Landcruiser.

They will give us an update then.

    G'night

    Today:

spent about 4 hours installing the rear camera - not quite complete but it looks awesome - must install one in our own Defender (pics when completed)

Installed HID upgrade to the head lights, used 4600 degrees Kelvin - white colour and 55 watt lamps

Also replaced the lights themselves with the crystal style lights

Re-assembled the tray after painting - this took a few beers in the hot sun

Cut a hole in the tray to be able to remove the fuel pump. Got the hole in almost the correct position - the pump will come straight out

Got a phone call at about 3.00pm that the springs were ready so Sheila went out and picked them up - we installed the springs and front shocks in a bit over an hour.

We started to lift on the tray just on dark

We met our first major hurdle - the clearance between the back window and the tray headboard was only about 10mm. We have had the tray with head board on and off a few times, but have only now sheeted it with checkerplate aluminium. The original intention was to use flat sheet, which would have given more clearence.

We looked at moving the tray back but too difficult at this stage. Problem solved by inverting the window as it protruded outwards about 40mm and inwards about 10mm. This will give us enough clearance we hope.

    During the window swap

Also did a lot of small jobs - replaced the polyair lines, started carpeting the tray, replaced the sound proofing around the drivers seat, ............

Tomorrow we will give the vehicle some serious articulation trials

    Today:

Re-assembled the tray for the last time I hope - installed bars, roof racks and ladders.

Wired up the rear lights. The reversing light is wired through a relay - probably draws a bit more current than the gearbox switch is designed for. Note the camera position in the rear center, This has an extremely wide angle

We also wired the roof spot lights and rear work light and the fridge position on the rear tray. Sharon also has a 60 litre Trailblazer.

The rear tarp is also coming along quite nicely. The pic shows us test fitting the top section. This will also have extensions out to 1.8 meters. on both sides for shade

Nice sun tan you've got going there Andy ... matches the Defender nicely

Have you thought about a cover for the camera as it will be blasted with dirt along the track. Or maybe install a washer for it might be even better.

    It's looking good!
