You've made the right decision in ordering elsewhere. What they tried to do is very wrong.. I sell Fendt Tractors for a living. I have two options for customers.. Choose from one of the pre ordered stock tractors that are in, or inbound to Australia that come specified with whatever they were ordered with, or order 'Indent' where you get to choose the exact spec you want, even down to colour, but have a 6 month wait. Its all a very clear process. I have access to all the Fendt's in Oz, and am able to see what spec they are, and where theyre located. As a seller, it gives me two clear options for the customer. It can be frustrating when I have a customer who wants a high spec specific tractor, and there are none in Oz... Just the downfalls of buying out of Europe, but if I can see a higher spec tractor that's similar to what a customer wants, I do my best to bring the price of that unit down so the customer wins. Occasionally I can change the spec of a unit thats already on the production line, but that has to involve a quick decision and only shortens the delivery time by 6/8 weeks. Not ideal, but handy. In my book the customer is always right, and should never be made to feel the way you were. Sounds like Tombie's suggestion and help worked out for the best!

I think the damage is done as far as the dealer is concerned. They probably got what they wanted (you to withdraw from the sale), but in reality it has cost them much more in goodwill and reputation, which is a shame because being upfront and honest gets you a long way in life and business.

Some of the stories that have been discussed are exemplary cases of what not to do in business. They would make a great case study for business students to pick the eyeballs out of for business law / strategic HR and corporate governance classes. Seems like its a fairly deep seated culture issue which hasn't been addressed in a long time, and unless there is a major shake-up, nothing will change.

After my servicing experiences at the Brisbane dealer, thanks to this site, i found out about MR auto.My vehicles have been to them for servicing/repairs since new for last 8 yrs or so,never had an issue.Half the price and twice as good.
Seem to be doing well! However, hard to compare, as this is my first offroader and I only had the original dual alloys with contis for 90km.

Bloody hell that's awful. Thanks for relating it, but sorry you had to go through it. Appreciate the recommendations that reinforce who to visit for warranty and ongoing service - great to hear common positive feedback.

    Thumbs up

Now I wish I needed a tractor. Love hearing about old fashioned service and professionalism.

Based on the feedback going back years discussed in this thread, I agree.
