I've thought about mounting solar as well, but will add a second fuel tank to supplement my Long Ranger 127 liter first.
I have internal water tanks (80 liters).
I aim to only have solar, room for a swag, gas bottle and perhaps a 2nd spare on my rack in the end to keep the weight low in the truck.
    Thanks.

I thought about drilling into the snorkel, but in the end I just ran it down the outside of the snorkel next to the windscreen and cable tied it. I had already done that for the gutter mount UHF aerial and it worked fine. Then it runs across the top of the firewall to the passenger side, down and along the chassis and up into the battery box to the regulator, a circuit breaker and the battery.
I might bundle the cables into conduit for extra protection.

Talking The beauty of the Dual Batt system

Having not driven the Defender for a bit now, I needed to take it for a run, blow out a few cobwebs, so I can start to get her ready for selling.
Hit the key,,, dead flat virtually. Flick the switch to the Dual Bat system, and away we go. Gotta love that. Thanks Tim, your systems awesome

    Slick Shift

I just purchased a Slick Shift assembly from the UK.
    Currently about $340 Aust delivered.
I'm having both my knees replaced next Wednesday, so it's starting to look like I'll have a few things to fit once I can walk in 3 months or so.
Defender to go on the trickle charger,
Alloy Gull wing rear glass replacement panels, Max trax carriers to mount over the gull wings and maybe even a drop down table for the side of the truck to follow.
Pics to follow in due course.

That looks annoyingly high to be used as a table.

If I can ever afford it, I'll learn to cope!
