    J. W. Speaker EVO 3 Headlights fitted

    Done!
    I just need to wire in the permanent DRL function but I’m still waiting for Australia Post to deliver my Lithium start battery (it’s been at Launceston, 80kms down the road for over a week &#128545 as I’m going to tidy up the battery bay at the same time.
    ‘Funny how one job turns into major surgery as I’ve been following old wiring, removing same and tidying up other wiring, and remove the poor excuse for trailer wiring loom into the battery bay that an Apprentice in Innisfail installed in 2016.
    ‘As my vehicle was carpeted over with the new engine install, I’ve had to pull carpet apart so it’s looking pretty sad in there.
    ‘At least it still runs!
    Im really happy with the new lights, they’re very smart and bright.
    The original trim is looking a bit rusty so I’ve ordered new stainless steel trim rings from the UK as well as new retainer clips for the lights.
    ‘I’ve decided to remove my ARB Intensities from my roof as I’m good in the LUX department, and will save weight.

    Change is a good thing.

    And while we’re at it, I removed my Rhino Rack Platform roof rack;

    ‘It’s been on for 6 years so it’s good to have the vehicle looking semi aerodynamic ( 🤣 ) again, and as I’ve mentioned, I’ve my ex ADF PT1 750KG off road trailer for my camping gear when I need to carry loads.

    ‘I’ll purchase two Rhino Rack bars to fit when I need to carry anything from Bunnings etc or the ARB awning, with quick disconnect brackets.

    I’m removing all the old wiring for the work lights and the ARB Intensities which is a big job as it’s now incorporated into new looms, which I have to undo and resheath, but it’s not like I’ve anything else to do with my time!

    Best part is the vehicle handles better and I’ve removed around 100Kg from the roof with the awning, so I’m happy with that.

    Now I have to clean, polish and Ceramic treat the roof tomorrow, first time in 6 years!

    And fitted the Lithium Starter Battery today!

    As above, fantastic!

    My iTechWord Lithium Starter Pro battery arrived finally via Australia Post (they were slow, not iTechworld) and I’ve just fitted it.

    It’s about 3/4 the physical size of my Wet cell, and 1/3 the weight as can be seen by the photo of me holding it with two fingers!

    Fits perfectly in the Puma battery bay, perfect terminal placement and size.

    Im just charging it via my domestic charger and then I’ll take the vehicle for a drive as I need to get some new battery connectors due to a bolt made of cheese.

    ‘More to follow re cranking performance with the 6.2L V8 LS3. (Should manage a 2.2 Puma compression! 😉 )

    Awesome……

    Haven’t decided where I’m doing for the starter for our trip.

    I did come across a lithium starter that has been programmed to shut down leaving enough capacity to start the car via jump start button….although I prefer to not touch the starter capacity at all.

    Run down start capacity

    I’m not sure if my new battery is smart enough to shut its self off from all drain to keep an emergency start charge, but I’ve a lithium jump starter that can start the car and the second battery that I can jump from, so I don’t think it’s a biggie for me.

    I’ll look into it though as their getting so clever now aren’t they!

    Re starting performance, it starts the 6.2 V8 brilliantly, immediate response so I’m really impressed, no dash error lights from the charging system, my Redarc gauges are all reading as they’re supposed to so it’s all working beautifully.

    ‘First impressions of my totally Lithium dual battery system in the Defender is very positive and the car has to be 30kg lighter or more.

    ‘Excellent!

    Keep us posted on how it works out. I tried researching this and got mixed reviews for it.

    Bundutop

    Hi mate;
    Yes, I sold it to a friend here in Tassie.
    I’ve replaced it with a new OzTent RV3 Plus so we can stand up in it, and I can carry it around in the trailer.
    They’re an impressive tent that’s for sure!

    They look great.
    Did you have to purchase from Landy Bits or did you manage to import them?
