It is, I've been tempted a few times but my D1 is too sorted and sound and I can't be bothered with the time and expense getting another Rover up to that same level. Also I don't think it's all that much of an upgrade considering the newest is now over 10 years old. I'd rather skip the D2 and go for D3.

d1 is still simple though. a lot of things can be fixed on side of the road. which is what has kept me spending money on mine. to get it tip top. my mate had a d3 and kept getting engine faults and losing power and no1 could sort it out. ended up getting rid of it for a defer. some electrics are nice (cruise control, abs, traction) but a lot are just making things too complicated and not really necessary.

i fall in and out of love with my d1 but fact is, i still have her which means the love outweighs the hate. drove a 100series LC the other day and felt like such a heavy pig to drive. got in my disco bout 2 hours later and made me appreciate the nimbleness.

Following fuel system debacles through 2013 (recoed injector pump) an engine rebuild that had it sidelined for 11 months of 2014 (my fault it took so long), a dud head from the rebuild and turbo overhaul this year the prospect of another rebuild/repower is not appealing. Add to that, the suspension is due to be totally re bushed, new shock absorbers all round and yet another transfer case output seal....

The amount of work mine needs is not far from bringing something else up to spec anyway.

The love hate scales are currently jammed firmly on the hate side.

    Just considering options.
    Thanks for the input.

Rubbed the Disco back and got stuck into it with 3 coats of rustoleum matte black spray cans.

Gave it 3 coats of satin clear on some advice. Not perfect but pretty original (I haven't seen another one around!).
