Looks good. How many cans did it take?

About 9 cans of matte black (3 coats) and 8 cans of satin clear. The satin clear allows me to wash it and it protects the matte from bird crap and things like that. It's a surprising good result but I'm not sure the same would have been achieved if I'd used any other colour.

Has anyone tried that spray-on Rubber type paint that u see on U-tube before??
From the U-tube clips it looks fairly durable and then u can simply pear it off.....

Just curious as to whether anyone has done that b4 ???

if you go off road a bit i wouldnt touch it. comes off easier than you think. no such thing as pin striping, it's more like peeling. my mate sprayed his rims black. lasted one off road trip before it looked s..t.

not bad if you have a rice cooker street car. plus the rubber paint is pretty expensive too. not really a cheap option as people think. i looked into it for a faded honda i was trying to sell.

vinyl wrap is a more durable option. still for offroad stuff i would only do top surfaces.

i like the black spray can job looks good, but really, when you add all the cans up the cost is probably getting to the same as just buying proper paint and doing a spray job. if done properly will outlast any fancy stuff.

gona spray the bonnet of my d1 once i get the other jobs finished. was thinking of vinyl wrapping the top ridge of it as well once painted in a black wrap. or just wrap the whole bonnet now and not paint it.

    so many things to do.

The Disco took $180 of paint tops, about $10 of sand paper and $5 of masking tape. It was all done for under $200.

That's pretty good. I would have thought more. Like i said, it does look good.

I wouldn't use the rubber paint though like robmacca was asking about

Could sand it back and do spraycan job like discofever, or if you have compressor and spraygun, do a proper job. Depending on colour, all the paint and thinners, primer (if needed) may cost from 250-500.

You can get bonnet wrapped in vinyl for about $400. Lasts a while.

Depending on the car's worth and the rest of the body, the spraycan option is the cheapest. If discofever did his whole car for under 200, I'd say you could do bonnet for $50-80

While chasing a steering vibration issue i was checking the hub preload and found rusty water in the RH hub, pulled hub off and cleaned/repacked with grease, new seal and re-adjusted preload.
Checked the other side but it only required adjustment, still had the shakes so adjusted the steering box and now 99.9 % gone.
Still have a pair of new tie rods to go on the track rod which should fix it 100%.

Over the last few days have wired up driving lights using the factory front fog light switch. Removed single rear seat and mounted car fridge. Run wiring for dual battery system and power to rear cargo area for fridge Anderson plugs and other accessories and relocated coil, ignition amplifier and power steer reservoir ready for mounting second battery when it arrives. The only thing I'm having a hassle with is trying to remove the trumpet from the air box. Does anyone know the trick to getting it out? It looks like it should just pull out but I am almost ready to cut it off.
