OK, I've read the QLD stuff, here's the answer:
15mm is for the total diameter of the wheel and tyre over the largest standard.
1.5 times is only for the width.
So D1 largest standard tyre is 235/70R16 = 735.4mm diameter:
QLD largest diameter is 15mm above 735.4mm = 750.4mm
QLD largest width is 1.5 times for live beam axle = 235mm x 1.5 = 352.5mm!
So this 1.5 times is asolute crap! What tyre comes in 350! and it still has to fit in the guards! and to keep the tyre diameter no larger than 15mm over standard you need a 350/49R16? what the? not likely!
1.5 times I don't think would ever apply to anyone!
