Oh and I'm still waiting for them to arrive. They left E-Shocks on Wednesday and left the US (international flight) on 20th.

It's easy to see why the bush flogs out when it's only 0.35mm wall to space the bolt out. But why not just use a half inch bolt? drilling out the other parts wouldn't be too hard.

The top mount has a fixed nut that would need tapping...

Haven't flogged them on the D2 here - they are static - once torqued up they can't move so shouldn't be wearing at all - like a shim.
Sounds like the joints seized and tore it apart...

Let's hope they are better than the Flo Flex watts bushes. Haha.

    HaHa. Thanks mate.

These are pretty well tested in the US so I don't think I'll have the same problems as I did with the Flo-Flex.

    Interesting developments....

Mine are still sitting in the box in the garage, time is not acting in my favour currently!

Can't wait to get them in.

Be sure to report back on the Prothane Bushes Joel. My D2 will probably hit 300k before I get round to fitting mine! (currently at 222k, with 24k of that being in the last ~5 months).

    Cheers

Anyone thought about going down this route???

Bilstein shocks and struts for cars and trucks - Shockwarehouse.com

these are designed for the 5100 series shock, but in addition to those Prothane Bushings, could be made to work?

I have ordered my 7100's yesterday, and E-Shocks are out of the Prothane Bushes, I think, when they arrive, I will look at extracating the X-Bar from the OEM shocks in the front, and seeing if they can be shoe-horned into the Prothane Bushes. Therefore, eliminating the need for the RTE lower mounts, and, only needing a slightly longer shock tower to fit them.

    Alternatively,

something like this would go nicely with my JKS Quick Disconnects:

Front Lower Bar Pin Adapter | Cherokee XJ & Comanche MJ

The other and better fix IMHO is to fit taller shock towers. So I bought these:

Problem is the port for the external reservoir wont fit. Also the shock wont fit though the tower so the external reservoir needs to be disconnected which then means they need to be regassed. This is how I modified the tower for the port. They are plenty stronger than the standard so it shouldn't be a problem.

Nice towers. Where did you find them and how much were they?

Sent using two tin cans and a piece of string.

    Also,

why hasnt anyone investigated using OEM buishings in the lower front mounts of their D2???

The prothane bushes have an OD of 26mm, to fit into the opening where the Heim jonts came from, what would be the OD of this guy??

    ROA100040 | BUSH LOWER SHOCK ABSORBER DISCO11 | Allmakes | Discovery 2 - 1999 to 2004 | Britcar (UK) Ltd

Even if it were slightly larger than the Prothane bush, surely there would be a little bit of fat that could be machined off the OEM style bush???
