Always sets the main units off also. Always has. There’s a setting for that also.

There is another possibility - some horn buttons have been known to jam.

AFAIK they don't work at all - that's why the lights are on!

When we had troubles with brothers Td5 a while back, battery was dodgy, and set of the alarm and went into immobilised state, when alarm sounded main(front) horns definitely went off.

I always thought that the 'alarm' horn was there as the backup piece for when thieves tried to cut the main horns to stop the noise.
That is, they all sound when the alarm goes off, and if the main horns are cut, the alarm horn still sounds.

Fat lot of good they do tho .. when we were stuck in the shopping centre car park, with a blaring horn, immobilised D2 .. no one batted an eyelid with 'two dodgy looking blokes'(me and bro) scrambling around the car!

I turned off his alarm system using the nanocom, and subsequently did so for my D2 project car too.

On an old D1/D2 type vehicle I reckon the alarm/immbiliser is a waste. No joy riders want these vehicles now, as they want big power modern V8's and V10's, and there's no interest in the stolen car market for old valueless vehicles from this era ATM.

Yes, main and backup horns sound with alarm (mains can be set not no).

Yes, TC works in less aggressive way with 3 amigos present.

Yes, D2 of no interest to car thieves, though alarm is useful to protect vehicle contents, particularly for those who spend weeks at a time living out of oneWhat happened to your Discovery 2 today?

CHanged the full flow filter. Not too bad after I removed the provent to gain access to the filter. I was able to grasp the filter in my hand, but unable to undo it. I went to Autobarn and bought a pair of oil filter pliers. This loosened the filter and I was able to unscrew it and with a bit of a jiggle remove it. Getting the new one in was a bit of a pain as I only have a bout 6 degrees of rotation. I had my left hand pushed in past the air con pipes to push the filter up and hold it in place. I was then able to start the filter on the thread.
    Tomorrow the diff oils!!!

The ABS still works when the boys are out playing, or at least they do in mine.
That's how I've tried to clear them at times, slam the brakes on, either on the shoulder or a dirt road.
My step dad used to engage HDC to do the same thing, he reckoned that kept them at bay for a while too.

    New steering ball joints installed.
Oh my, what a job. Put my back out unloading the tools from the car (a sign of things to come!!). Took about 9 hrs working at half speed to get one side out and in again. I’m sure the opposite side will be quicker but not sure I have the energy. But I did learn more about the car - which is why we do it right?
Think I may pay someone to do the other side!! What happened to your Discovery 2 today?
Am yet to test drive to make sure the new axle seal has sealed properly.
    .............

Freeze the ball joints in the freezer and heat the mounts with a blow torch for a few mins. They will slip in with a few mm to spare. Be quick tho. Once they return to normal temp they’re there to stay. I did mine this way a couple of weeks ago.

After my boys lured up some nice flathead I towed the boat into a 'Red Sky at night...' sunset ready for another calm day on the water today. I love the grunt and symphony of the 4.6 towing.

    Cheers
PS. Power steer pump squealed like a stuck pig day before yesterday on cold.start and then yesterday didn't do it all on cold start...
