Totally, at 30+psi you've really got to make it flow. Are there better flowing cams available for the TD5 also. What are you doing for a turbo at those boost levels? I love where you're heading with the engines development, it's pretty cool stuff!

Fixed the surging at >2700 rpm issue, turbo had a sticky waste gate so I swapped the turbo but no success. I hooked the actuator straight to boost side of the intake and that solved it. Just need to order a new wastegate solenoid and she'll be perfect again.

Yeah td5inside are testing cams and other bits to get to 300hp,

I use td5inside hybrid turbo for that boost and has plenty more in it,

To run such high boost I have a full size allisport intercooler and manifold and silicon boost hoses

I would think that to improve the efficiency of a turbo diesel, you open the intake valve as soon as possible. And open the exhaust valve as soon as possible. I must be missing something here!

    edit
I looked at the TD5, inlet opens 14degrees BTDC closes 147degrees ATDC
Exhaust opens 147degrees BTDC and closes 14degrees ATDC

What could you change? Increase valve lift. Close the exhaust sooner?
Close the inlet a bit later?I looked at the TD5, inlet opens 14degrees BTDC closes 147degrees ATDC

Finally got some time to take the rear diff apart.
When I got the vehicle back from my Sons tenure it wasn’t in such a good state. Some nasty banging noises from the rear.

    Seems my assumptions were correct.

Axles are unsurprisingly good condition for a vehicle with a high output tune and 33s for 21 years.

Sadly the centre isn’t so good

However, the chassis is coming up good

Stock axles and diff centre as well. I like that you've been running these, 33's and motor upgrades.

It's so tiresome reading so often people saying you need every conceivable modification to run 33's or a 4" lift.

BTW that baning may have been the drop link and ACE!

Finally got time to fit my old uhf into the'new' D2, thanks lockdown, ended up putting it up high as I couldn't see anywhere else it could physically fit, the joy of an old brick of a radio I suppose.

Seems s to fit alright where it is, and it works, so happy days
