I will be in on a group buy :-)
umm
looking at the online shopping site, it appears you need to buy the new nanocom, and then all the unlock codes are extra purchases. where the old nanocom you got all the unlock codes with it. is this correct, or am i reading it wrong ?
if it is correct it will be a quite expensive unit to get up to the same capability as the old nanocom.
While this may be the case for the new unit it is the way of the world with stuff that is software driven.
You buy something and it can be updated or modified via software.
Many companies use a generic module which will do heaps of stuff but you may only get it doing one specific thing. Want it to do more or something different and you pay for it.
With some computer programmes it may only be a case of using a different "password" or code to activate different features.
A business is there to make make money. Can't really blame them.
.
This is how it looks to me. In the nanocom store if you bought a disco unit it did every thing, if you bought a defender unit, it did everything on a defender. Now you have to buy a basic Disco unit, at a higher price, and then buy additional unlock codes to end up with the same functionality as was available originally.
yep i agree, don't mind paying more for a newer model with nice interface, but do object a little to paying more for a less functional unit if this is the case.
I would be interested!

Agreed. Colin, you need to address this as it is one of the issues that comes up with devices like this.
The fact that it originally would access everything and now since you have taken it over you are now charging for different vehicle models is not really palatable to a lot of potential customers.
That is what has mad ethe Nanocom so successful an now it's as though your buying out competition and making the customer pay.
It's one thing that will stop me buying it.

I have a Defender Td5 and a D2.
Do I need a separate unit for each vehicle or can the unlock codes for both the Defender Td5 and D2 be uploaded to the one base unit (say the Defender Td5 one) or do I have to buy a base unit for each vehicle?
Confused as there are separate base units listed for Defender Td5, Discovery II and Defender Puma.
If I can get by with only one base unit, then I would be interested in the group buy possibility.
Roger
I could be wrong but the way I read it was:
You could buy a base Disco , Defender or Puma Nanocom. Then if you wanted you could purchase the additional modules which would unlock the other systems.
eg. I purchase a Base level Disco Nanocom Evolution (299 Euros) then if further down the track I wanted to to get full Defender functionality I could purchase the unlock module (49 Euros) . Giving me a Nanocom that Fully supports both the Disco and Defender.
Is this not that way the Evolution always worked ?
