No. Anything TD5 related was on one unit, anything Puma related was on another for ?273 but for ?350 i think it was, you could get the TD5 and Puma complete in one unit non VIN specific. All the pricing was on the Nanocom website.
Sent from my mobile tellingbone using rock carvings.
my bad, i didn't read enough into it before i posted.
quote from their website for TD5 D2 model for example.
"The Nanocom Evolution is a small stand alone unit with a 3.5 inch full Colour Graphic display. This version includes unlock codes to allow coverage of the TD5 Engine Management system, the Valeo Body Control, Active Cornerering enhancement (ACE) and the combined Air suspension and ABS (SLABS) system which are all applicable to the TD5 Discovery II. This is a Multi Vehicle unit, meaning it can be used on any vehicle of the same type and is not locked to any VIN. Includes The main NANOCOM EVOLUTION unit, an OBDII cable and a USB cable."
so you buy a vehicle specific unit then can unlock to other vehicles with additional purchases of unlock codes
put me down for 1 defender td5 thanks
That explanation makes a lot of sense - thanks.
So, to cover my DII and Defender I will need to purchase a Td5 DII main NANOCOM EVOLUTION unit (299 Euros) plus the unlock codes for the Defender (49 Euros).
A total of about $475Aus - group buy discount + freight. Sounds very reasonable to me.
Roger
can we get a oder together then
Folks - Hard Range Australia is a local distributor for BBS products, and we have been holding off on the Nanocom thing for a while. I looked at becoming a distributor for Mattia last year, but did not proceed when he didn't respond promptly to enquiries.
So now that the Nanocom kit is supported by BBS I have a much higher comfort level that Nanocom has a future. True, BBS do not always give you the answer you want and support is predominantly through their forums... however, there is no doubt in my mind that their LR diagnostic products are the best available at the moment.
I am not sure that I understand why Nanocom products have been grouped within the Blackbox "Basic Bits" catalogue as these products have limited support. Perhaps this is an intermediate thing while the products are assimilated? With the capabilities of the Nanocom as it is, and what it can be, I hope to see it closer aligned to the FaultMate MSV-2 over time.
I am happy to facilitate a group buy of the Nanocom products and pass on the savings to you. Points to note:
- anyone importing 20+ Nanocoms will attract the attention of Customs and you will get charged 5% Import Duty plus 10%GST on [the full retail value (before discount) of the shipment (+ the 5% duty) plus shipping cost].
- BBS do not split orders for avoidance of Customs duty. It is not worth their while as a reputable business to be party to tax avoidance.
- We already handle quantities of BBS product and can usually get the Customs process expedited to avoid delays, but not the charges unfortunately.
- Once the goods are landed, we can Express Post to most capital cities overnight, and within 2-3 days for most regional locations at a cost of $10-15.
This is just an offer to help out fellow LR owners. I don't expect to make any profit from it, and product support will be via BBS... at least until we have more hands-on experience with the Nanocom.
If you are genuinely interested in a group buy and prepared to commit your hard-earned, please respond to this post or via info@hardrange.com by Saturday 5-Feb-2011.
I will tally up the interested parties and get a firm quote from BBS for delivery, apply the tax and local distribution charges and let you know your individual cost.
Think about it, do the sums, and let me know if I can help.
Cheers, Paul.

As Rosscoe68 has now read up and posted details of, the per vehicle type Nanocom units we offer all come with 2 unlock codes to cover the respective and designated vehicle model. Of course the TD5 allows access to TD5 engine managements on Defender and Disco II and the Defender 10AS alarm and Wabco ABS allows access to these systems on either a TD5 or Puma Defender, so there is some cross over.
So for a DIY owner to just cover their one vehicle model, there is absolutely need to also buy any of the additional / optional unlock code items.
They have been provided simply as options so that now anyone can expand a NANOCOM EVOLTION in the future, partly, or to full vehicle spec as they wish, Which is of course an option that was not previously available at all.
There is of course some small price increase in differing requirement situations, but as everyone will appreciate, this is not much, and easily countered with our discounting policies, that often allows a system to be purchased at a lower price than before and of course you have to remember that we are now providing our purchasers with a Technical support forum as well.
In fact, although some might be looking and comparing before and after situations, and complaining about small differences and increases, but overall, given that the initial pricing of the NANOCOM EVOLUTION has obviously proved to be near unworkable, that we have offered it at all, and for anything like its original price is actually really quite commendable.
Re PaulP38's offer
I simply cannot believe what a genuine and generous offer he has made on behalf of the members of this board, and frankly without him, i doubt that any group buy would happen at all.
It is easy to find a dozen or so members who will agree to buy a product at such a good bulk rate discount. But it typically all falls apart when it comes to finding a suitable and trust worthy enough person to act as the agent and willing to put in the time and effort to sort it all out.
For example, Member X might offer, but then without really knowing anything about Member X, everyone is expected to send them their money up front and hope that Member X supplies them with a system. You can't help but wonder, what if you never hear from member X again.
However when Member X is a well known and reputed company, already engaged in the diagnostic supply business, with ties to the supplier and has much more to loose than a forum membership, it's a whole different ball game.
My trust in Paul is absolute, and as such as the owner of Blackbox and now Nanocom too, i will underwrite and personally back his most generous hosting offer myself.
In other words, anyone purchasing a system under this quite unique offer via Paul is absolutely guaranteed to get a system, even if i have to send one to them directly myself.
In addition Paul is quite right, As far as we are concerned, the bulk discount rates we offer is only applicable when one person buys the requisite quantity in one go to be delivered in one consignment to one address.
BTW Paul
you are quite right again with regard to shop placement of the Nanocom Evolution in the Basic bits section being only temporary![]()
Regards
Colin
