You may be partially correct, but there are road rules stating that the car in the right lane of a multi lane road with a speed limit of greater than 80KPH must keep left unless overtaking. That is irrespective of whether the car in the right lane is doing what they think is the speed limit. If they are not overtaking, including keeping pace with a car in the other lane, they should move left.

It is not the role or responsibility of one motorist to police the behaviour of other motorists, including the other motorist speeding.

actually, someone doing a reverse park must give way to cars behind.

That would therefore be an example of an illegal manoeuvre then.

The comment arose in an RACQ article discussing tailgating. The fact remains, if you are driving on a road you have no absolute right to be unimpeded or travel at any particular minimum speed. Sure, there are other rules dictating when to move left or what types of vehicles can't be driven on freeways. There are also rules that state when a particularly slow vehicle may be considered a hazard. But the fact I was making is that if you are the one being obstructed by another lawful road user, you have no right to take action against the other driver, cyclist or pedestrian.

Which, to be pragmatic, means that the car doing the reverse park doesn't have to give way to the car behind!

But they do need to avoid hitting the car behind.

Just went for a stroll with the cheese & kisses along a shared path. I moved over to the edge to give an oncoming cyclist more room and squashed a medium consistency 'dog sausage' that was nicely camouflaged with the dirt alongside the path!

There's bigger issues in our dogged society than bike - pedestrian interaction...I wonder if we'd hear more birds singing if it wasn't for all the dogs barking at each other through suburbia?
