This is precisely why the WA border won't be opening up anytime soon as it will take 28 days of zero community transmissions to do the job.
For those that say this is an impossible target then think again and look at what the other States have managed to do, WA for instance hasn't had a new community transmission in over 6 months.

OS has been a total balls up, but the hard border closures here on the whole are politically motivated.

How about the contact tracing done in NSW, or the localised lockdown and mask wearing in Vic?
I'd consider both a stunning success so far.

I am not convinced that the WA border closure is politically motivated BUT I Am convinced that is has been a Stunning success Much more so than VIC or NSW efforts and results

The story lists 9 hotel workers, mostly from Spotless, but also a police officer and others.
That would be consistent with aged care workers also getting infected in the community and taking the virus into aged care homes, where 665 elderly died in Victoria.
So that has obvious implications for the hotel quarantine inquiry, where people have tried to blame certain people, which I won't spell out because this isn't the Current Affairs section.

It also could be a "They would say that. " moment. There has been far to much of the blame game to accept that at face Value. Cynical? You bet.

Now the politically aimed excuses come out to cover more arses & jobs.

All too late, should have been done when this thing started early in the year and maybe we all could have been closer to opening up our borders by now .

If the worst we face is closed & variable State borders, spare a fleeting thought for the unfortunate 'Mericans / 'Mercans....

On a practical note, did you notice the emphasis on 'Backwards' contact tracing ? ie, Where / how / from whom did the patient get infected ? - NOT what we're using (hope I'm wrong!) which is 'forward' tracing as seen with mobile phone apps.... 'Who has this infected person been near and possibly passed it on to ?'

Don't be lulled into complacency when wearing a surgical or N95 mask... This and other articles from here are sobering...
