It's up to you. Going by the photos i can see at least $ 8000.00
or better to get it up to rego. Corn flake boxes make good gaskets too......
They do make great gaskets! I did that in a mates corolla, for the waterpump and all, 4 years ago and it's still going.

as you can see i need to replace the gearbox crossmember so i might make one at the tafe next to my school.they have a computer press there that remembers what angles to press at aswell as what order to do them so i thought while i was going if anyone else wanted one i could do that

With that type of technology at your fingertips Tony, I would definitely make up 5 or more and sell them to finance your "Twins" project.
That if the instructor at the TAFE will allow you? Same with anything else that is a special one off item...
I did a 2 year , one night a week course for panel beating , hand tools and the same for vehicle refinishing (painting) at Wyong TAFE before the government closed it down.We were allowed to take in and work on (private) projects after the first year, you may be luckier with the rules?
BTW I notice in one pic that your were using a 90mm angle grinder on the chassis, with probably the standard thick blade? I have now found the same size 90 mm disc in a 1.5 mm thick. It gives a thin ,very neat cut, compared to the old standard disc's, and gets through the metal a lot quicker, and they only cost $1.00 each

hey yeah i would think that i would be able to go over to the tafe and bend it up so my plans are to get them all cut up and ready so i can bend them up as quick as i can.yeah i was thinking about making a few im sure someone would need one down the track somewhere. i wont get them perfect but being the crossmember that is is, it doesnt have to be spot on as long as the mount line up properly is the main thing.btw i just found that picture on google i think i typed in land rover series one chassis or something along those lines. ps thanks for the interest

i think i will now fabricate the crossmember now instead of using a press even though it will look a little different it really wont matter if anyone is interested i would still make you one. i would probably charge you the cost of the material plus $10 hour. it would probably take me about an hour i wouldnt think it would take me any longer

    Thumbs up

    g'day,

one thing that i should have done with my gearbox crossmember on my 86" is make it a removable one, so just incase the gbox has to come out i can get it out without having to remove the engine.....!

your Chassi looks good, little bit of cutting and welding and youll have that thing looking smick!
in that last pic on the previous post showing all the rust, etc where bouts is that crack?

    is your 80" a 53 model?

    keep up the work mate!

    cheers,

    Chris
