New shoes...well three new BFGoodrich ATs and the lazy spare put into use for the first time in its life.

After five years and 65000 km of mixed driving there was still about 10 mm of tread left. The rears were a bit chopped about so one of the fronts has been put out to pasture as the spare. I noticed a radial stress crack just below the sidewall tread and given that they were as hard as concrete it was time for new ones. Driving on the new ones is like floating on air. They've been faultless....the only brand of tyre I've used on my Land Rovers since 1997.

Long story short, radiator overflow tank wouldn't stop leaking, then the radiator sprung a leak. Big dollars? Haha nope, took the radiator, thermo fans, overflow tank all out of my old AU Falcon (basically a 4L 6cyl) and within 20 mins had it all installed in Jeremy

The radiator will bolt up to the mounts for the AC fans, but I ripped the AC out after the fire, so not a problem. The overflow tank sits neatly behind the battery, will need a few mounting bolts and some pipe alterations to be 100% neat. The fans are operated by a 40AMP relay, switched by the thermo switch in the thermostat housing.

Took bugger all time, saved hundreds of dollars and if anything breaks, the AU Falcon parts are cheap as chips and not exactly rare. So I believe I've done well, will upload pics later, maybe a bit of a how-to as well.

Feel free to PM me for more information.

Got home from work and noticed the temp up a bit. Got out and heard a hiss. Had sprung a leak in the radiator tank. Radiator in my old ute is a cross flow type where the tanks are on the sides. Left tank was leaking from near the top hose barb. Right tank had also a minor leak from the lower hose barb were it had been soldered into the tank. So removed the radiator and re soldered and repaired as needed. Main hassle was getting the surface clean enough for the solder to take properly. As usual with any repairs I do it does not go as easy a it could. Radiator had to come out from the front, so had to swing the bull bar down, remove the grill and grill mounting panel. This will real soon be rectified by making the top cross brace removeable and allowing the radiator to come striaght up. Another problem was the radiator locates on two pegs and two bolts. Bolts came out ok but the pegs had rusted solid. Took some wiggling to get the radiator to lift up of the pegs. So now have some new pegs.
    Cheers Hall

Service on my 5HP 24 trans, filter and fluid @ 120,000km and not a minute too soon.
Im pretty alarmed at the state of the fluid especially considering my L322 has never towed anything.
New tires as well (4) Scorpion ATRs

Been swapping tyres around trying to reduce a vibration at speed, but so far I've only made it worse. Looks like some wheel balances coming up next week.
