TD5 oil cooler..
again.............
third time lucky. both previous times the orings let go and matrix was tested as fine, but i suspect it was leaking still while hot as i always had telltale oil in the coolant, that kept getting written off as leftover from previous oring failure.
a word to the wise. been less than 5 months since orings were replaced and the matrix is now well corroded. so much for OAT stopping corrosion. going back to good qual green coolant now. at least i might be bale to keep it in the radiator![]()
dropped the disco in to get the head gasket done... cross your fingers for me everyone!
New water pump fitted bearing failed on the old one
Finally got round to fitting the front bar on my D1. Still have to service & fit the winch and fabricate a front tow hitch receiver.
Thanks sheerluck (one word)

Started yesterday on a straight forward job of replacing the kick down cable on my auto 300tdi 110 as the injector pump end was frayed and do a filter change and fluid flush at the same time[mid arvo], whilst undoing the valve body my t27 torx bit snaps and pannick sets in, had to buy a set at supercrap as t25 & t30 are common but not t27. Next i had to chisel out the damaged bolt but no dramas as i have a spare zf in pieces, then install kick down cable into box, mate turns up, sump and filter on and finish off on Sunday morn. Sunday morn while attempting to conect new kickdown cable to pump i discover its 80cm long unlike the 102cm it is to replace-it does not reach and my guess is that it is for a v8 and not a 300tdi? Ring a mate who borrowed the kick down off my spare auto befor cooking his auto and borrow back my own part! sump/filter and valve body off again to install correct length but used cable then dissconnect the cooler and flush the box.
What a huge difference to drive now- I guess i had just worn in with the frayed stiff cable.
Alls good![]()
