Changed all the radiator and heater hoses after two had burst in the last couple of months. They must get getting to " that certain age".

Took the Defender for a dusty drive, then put the headlights back into the 2a when I got home Not a big job, but it was enough to pull me away from LeMans 24hr

Pulled up the front carpets to check the state of previous rust repairs. Mostly good, but one small spot of daylight, so filled it with exhaust cement, as I couldn't find my tube of silicone. No idea if the exhaust cement will work or not, but we'll see.
Then sprayed anti-rust paint over the repair and a few other patches. 'George' is now sitting in the carport with the carpets still lifted so the paint can dry. Tomorrow I'm going hunting for some noise deading material as the original just stays wet and causes rust. I want something that won't get soaked with water.
Also gave George and the camper trailer a wash in preparation for heading off on Friday for a week's camping.

Mick, check out a product called "Soundsorba".
Used in the marine industry around enclosed gensets etc or in smallish power boats to keep engine noises at bay.
Oil, heat and water resistant, comes in varying thickness and abilities to cut noise.

I replaced the low note horn on the D2. It died a few weeks ago, and it was embarrassing when using the horn with just the high note one.

Sounded like some little buzz box.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Finally fitted the new mirrors to both sides of the new Disco, can actually see things behind me now.
Got around to chasing up a replacement LH Headlight and indicator assembly, Roo killed the originals on the way across the Hay Plains.
Also got around to getting rid of about half a ton of sticky red mud and gunk from underneath her from when I got her bogged the other day.

    Thanks mate.
I went to Clark Rubber yesterday and bought some stuff whose name I forget which they recommended. Comes in rolls 1 metre wide and in thicknesses from 5mm to 25mm and has a silver backing to repel heat. The guy recommended laying it with the silver side down to stop heat from the transmission tunnel.
So I made some quick measurements with a borrowed tape and bought 1.4 metres of 15mm in two sections 70 by 1 metre. Cost $64.
Today I cut it up to fit - had too much but it trimmed easily. Slapped some lanolin on the floor and then laid it over the top and refitted the carpets and crappy plastic edging, which is cracking.
Also refitted the acoustic panel under the steering wheel.
So, hopefully life will be quieter when we head off on Friday for a week of wandering about.
